Meghan Markle Recalls Kids Calling Her 'Krusty The Crown' From 'The Simpsons' After Unfortunate Haircut
Meghan Markle shared what happened when she chopped her locks when she was younger.
"I was 10 or 11 maybe. The reason my hair looked like that back then was because I was obsessed with Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings and a Funeral, and all I wanted was that perfect curly little haircut," she told Ellen DeGeneres in an episode that aired on November 18. "So, I asked my mom, and we went to the hairdresser and got it, and on that first day I was like, 'This is amazing! I look like Andie MacDowell.'"
She continued, "And then it was as though everyone forgot to tell me, 'You have ethnic hair, you are not going to look like Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings and a Funeral,' and that's what it ended up evolving into. And I went to school, and they said I looked like Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons. It was a real bummer."
During her stint on the talk show, the 40-year-old discussed her life in California with Prince Harry and their two kids, Archie and Lilibet. DeGeneres also roped Meghan in to play a prank on some vendors outside of the studio lot.
While some people liked seeing the former actress have some fun, others thought the appearance was not necessary.
"By this point I needed my sick bucket to go ew, ew, ew," Piers Morgan wrote in the Daily Mail. ''Honestly, it all made me genuinely want to puke. This is a senior member of the British royal family whose husband, Prince Harry, is sixth in line to the throne, behaving like a gormless desperate reality TV starlet.' Royals don't do this kind of thing for a very good reason. The public expects them to behave in a regal manner, that is the mystique that preserves the Monarchy."
"I don’t think the royals would have bothered watching, but I’d love to be a fly on the wall when they see the clips of her animal impersonations," expert Richard Fitzwilliams stated. "There’s absolutely no doubt when you make a fool of yourself like that, it was just so silly, all of it."
