Even though Kate Middleton and Prince William have been together for quite some time, the two put a lot of effort into their relationship.
"Many couples take each other for granted after 10 years. They are working harder on creating quality time together and switching off at the end of the day. They work hard at their marriage," a friend claimed to the U.K.'s Closer Weekly.
The pal explained that the pair are good at "taking things in their stride" and work well together, adding that they have good "communication" with one another.
William, 38, and Kate, 39, recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on April 29.
The two shared new portraits of themselves via their official Instagram account one day before the big milestone. Afterward, they uploaded an adorable video with their tots — Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3.
"Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary. We are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family. W&C. 📹 @willwarr," Kensington Royal captioned the video on Instagram.
Clearly, William and Kate had a connection from the start.
"Whenever Kate was in the room, Will was obviously paying attention to her," former classmate Laura Warshauer, who attended the University of St Andrews in Scotland with the couple, told PEOPLE. "When we'd be sitting at lunch in the dining hall and the two of them would be talking, it was amazing to see how natural it was, how they had so much to say to each other. Looking back, there were all these small moments — certainly moments where I was like, 'Wow, this could really be something.'"
"We obviously met at university, at St Andrews we were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on. We just spent more time with each other, had a good giggle, had lots of fun and realized we shared the same interests and just had a really good time," William previously shared of their romance.
