William and Kate Steal the Spotlight Alongside Tom Cruise at the 73rd Royal Film Performance
The Prince and Princess of Wales joined Tom Cruise for the premiere of his highly anticipated film, Digger.
Prince William and Princess Catherine have been on a roll with their recent royal engagements, but their latest outing was easily the cherry on top. The couple stepped out looking exceptionally dashing for an event that held deep importance for them both personally and professionally. Alongside a world premiere, it was also a Royal Film Performance, an annual charity event that's held by the UK's Film and TV Charity, something the Wales couple have been championing for years.
London’s Leicester Square lit up with Hollywood glamour and royal elegance as the Prince and Princess of Wales joined Tom Cruise for the premiere of his highly anticipated film, Digger. Serving as the 73rd Royal Film Performance, the star-studded event brought out major icons from the industry while also raising funds for the UK’s Film & TV Charity.
All eyes were on the red carpet as William and Kate arrived to a massive crowd. Kate wore a floor-length, vibrant purple gown by Jenny Packham, paired with the Queen Mother's amethyst heart necklace and pearl earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana. William, on the other hand, looked effortlessly sharp in a classic black velvet tuxedo jacket.
The royal couple shared a warm reunion with Tom Cruise, exchanging laughs and chatting with the Hollywood star alongside the film's Oscar-winning director, Alejandro González Iñárritu. The night marked a rather glamorous reunion for the trio, who previously walked the red carpet together in 2022 for the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise was also seen helping the Princess down the stairs like a perfect gentleman.
Speaking on the red carpet, Cruise expressed his deep admiration for the royal couple's ongoing support of the arts and the UK film workforce. “I just love them. They are lovely people, and I have great respect for them,” Cruise said. The three have shared a friendship for years and frequently speak of one another with great regard.
The venue itself transformed Leicester Square into an interactive experience reflecting the themes of the film. Guests walked through a specially crafted maze featuring set pieces from Digger, complete with an Arctic Ocean backdrop, oversized stills of Cruise in character, and a large replica of the lead character's prized shovel.
The premiere drew an impressive lineup of celebrities, not just Hollywood stars. Alongside Cruise and Iñárritu, William and Kate personally greeted cast members, including Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons. Beyond the film's stars, A-list guests like David Beckham and his sons, Cruz, 21, and Romeo, 24, joined in on the celebration. Yet even amid all the star power, the royal couple managed to shine the brightest.
