Princess Kate Highlights Healing Power of Nature on Visit to Mental Health Charity
Princess Kate took the time to explore the healing power of nature with the founder and staff of a beloved charity.
Princess Kate has always been deeply passionate about nature, often speaking about her love for the outdoors and her belief in its healing power. Aligning with these values, the Princess of Wales recently made a secret visit to Dose of Nature in London, a charity that uses nature to improve mental health. She later reflected on the outing in a special Instagram post featuring photos of her time there, captioning it, "A Dose of Nature. A wonderful visit to pioneering mental health charity @dose_of_nature_, which supports people experiencing mental health challenges through a clinically led programme that combines psychology, connection with nature, and one-to-one guidance."

The post noted, “Founder Dr Alison Greenwood and Clinical Lead Dr Georgina Gould share how spending time in nature can help us feel both calmer and more alert, exploring the science behind this, from the sound of birdsong to air in a woodland.” This uplifting conversation was highlighted in the post, as Dr. Greenwood and Dr. Gould explained to Kate the science behind nature's impact on well-being.
Elaborating on the experience, they shared, “Most people who come to us instinctively know that nature is good for them. They may have had an experience in nature where they noticed that they felt calmer or less stressed or anxious and able to think more clearly, which was very much in line with what science would suggest.”

They also shared the science behind this phenomenon, referencing everything offered by the natural world. “A lot of people love the sounds of birds, but they don’t know the reason why they love the sounds of birds!” they explained. “Well, it is again linked to our evolutionary system, which is that birds are indicators that predators aren’t around. Therefore, we feel safe as a species. So, there’s so much that I think people really resonate with.”
Kate toured the facility alongside them, learning how the process works when patients are referred by their GP or psychologist. This engaging discussion was followed by brief conversations with several programme participants, after which Kate joined the charity's weekly 'Art in Nature' session to experience their work firsthand.

This visit once again put the spotlight on Prince William and Princess Kate’s mental health advocacy. The royal couple has consistently championed mental health awareness, challenging stigma and encouraging people to speak more openly, beginning with their ‘Heads Together’ campaign in 2016.
They also invested in the launch of Shout, a free, 24/7 confidential crisis text service, and helped drive the success of 'Heads Up,' a programme designed to embed long-term mental health commitments across football. Ultimately, William and Kate have consistently worked to dedicate themselves to this lifelong passion, making a meaningful impact on the broader community.
