Prince William Takes George on Special Trip as Young Royal Enjoys Break From Eton
William had previously spoken about George's love for the team during an impromptu meet-and-greet with Aston Villa fans at a Wetherspoons.
Just a few weeks after Prince William and Princess Kate dropped off their eldest, Prince George, at Eton, it seems they really missed him. While Kate has been very vocal about missing George, William, though quieter, felt the same way. In an effort to spend some quality time with the teen, William whisked him away to Spain. As lifelong supporters of Aston Villa, the father-and-son duo traveled to Barcelona to cheer on their favorite team together during the UEFA Champions League game.

While George is back home during his half-term break from Eton College, William whisked him away to watch Aston Villa take on FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League on November 3, 2026. Their outing was certainly a surprise, and the spectators were thrilled to see the Prince of Wales and his eldest son making an appearance at Camp Nou in Barcelona.
Ahead of the match, FC Barcelona welcomed the royal guests on social media, sharing a photograph of William dressed in a smart navy blazer with a crew-neck sweater underneath. Sharing the photo, in the caption, the club's social media handle wrote, "FC Barcelona is honoured to welcome His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and His Royal Highness Prince George to the Spotify Camp Nou." They continued, "Thank you for joining us for a special evening of Champions League featuring your beloved Aston Villa."

During the match the father and son duo were seen donning an official black athletic jacket featuring the Aston Villa crest on the chest. William also had a cap on to shield himself from the rain that was pouring while George gad the hoodie of his jacket pulled up to his head.

William had previously spoken about George's love for the team during an impromptu meet-and-greet with Aston Villa fans at a Birmingham pub last year. According to Villa fan Darren Johnson, William explained, "George is a Villa fan, and we asked about the rest of the children. He said he wouldn't force a football team onto them as long as it wasn't Chelsea because all the people around him are Chelsea fans." The Barcelona outing was also a special father-son football moment, as George's last appearance at an Aston Villa match with William was in April 2025.
