Royal Experts Highlight How Prince William and King Charles Differ When It Comes to Their Wives
A royal expert noted that it's challenging to perform solo, and a stronger partnership is anticipated when William becomes king.

It was a level of adoration that the then-Prince Charles reportedly envied and resented during her lifetime, a trait Prince William has successfully rejected when it comes to Kate Middleton stealing the spotlight. "Prince William is not only proud, but he is smitten. He watches Princess Catherine and lights up. After more than a decade of marriage and three children, he is still completely enchanted by her," Helena Chard, a British photographer, told Fox Digital News. Chard noted that the royal couple's relationship has garnered significant public admiration, successfully balancing a grounded personal life with their demanding public duties.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond added that the Prince and Princess of Wales have emerged as a modern power couple, with Middleton widely seen as the monarchy's crown jewel. "William and Catherine definitely have the wow factor that Diana had—and which spawned Di-mania," Bond stated. Royal author Christopher Andersen agreed, noting that the British people hold Kate in high regard, much like they did her mother-in-law. Yet, unlike Charles, who famously struggled with Diana's immense popularity, William actively supports his wife and is content to share the spotlight.
This stands in sharp contrast to what Diana revealed during her infamous 1995 Panorama interview. "We'd be going round Australia, for instance, and all you could hear was, 'Oh, she's on the other side. Now, if you're a man like my husband, a proud man, you mind about that if you hear it every day for four weeks," Diana said. "And you feel low about it, instead of feeling happy and sharing it," she added, referencing Charles's jealousy, which affected their marriage considerably.
Meanwhile, William exhibits visible relaxation around Middleton, according to Simon Vigar, author of The Four Wives of Windsor. Vigar further noted that it's challenging to perform that role solo, and a stronger partnership is anticipated when William becomes king, highlighting her significance to him both personally and publicly, HELLO! reported.
