Following Royal Tradition, Prince William Prepares Guest Edit for Country Life Magazine
Prince William will talk about his love for the countryside and the importance of mental health.
Prince William has always sought not just to follow royal traditions but to elevate and modernize them. From his personal patronages and community toolkits to his groundbreaking work with the Earthshot Prize, the Prince of Wales has gone above and beyond to shape his role as the future of the monarchy. Continuing this approach, William recently added ‘editor’ to his incomparable resume by guest editing the November 11 issue of Country Life—a move that has royal watchers eagerly anticipating what's to come.
In fact, the magazine's representatives took to Instagram and posted a new photo showing the future King working hard on his ‘new role.’ Taken at Windsor Castle, the image showed William signing off on the final pages of the special edition alongside Country Life editor-in-chief Mark Hedges and managing editor Paula Minchin. This new photo was shared with the caption, “A first look at The Prince of Wales's Guest Edit of Country Life.”

They added, “Six months in the making, this very special 300-page edition has been produced in collaboration with our Editor-in-Chief Mark Hedges and Managing and Features Editor Paula Minchin. Available for one week only, from Wednesday, November 11.” According to the official announcement released in June, this issue focuses on His Royal Highness’s advocacy on the importance of mental health and improving access to essential services in the countryside. The magazine also shared another photo, taken at Kensington Palace, showing the Prince of Wales smiling as he sits on a bar stool.
Along with the photo, they shared a lighthearted caption: “‘We need to protect our pubs.' The Prince of Wales—or should that be the Prince of Ales—makes the case for Britain's pubs in his special Guest Edit of Country Life, available for one week only, from Wednesday, November 11.” According to Country Life, the Prince also highlights his love for the countryside and his commitment to protect and enhance the environment.
By taking on the role, the Prince follows in the footsteps of his father, King Charles, who guest-edited the magazine twice—first for his 65th birthday in November 2013 and again for his 70th in 2018. Other senior royals have also stepped into the editor's chair, including Princess Anne for the July 29, 2020 issue and Queen Camilla for the July 13, 2022 edition, which became a major hit.
