Meghan Markle Reveals The One Person Who Makes Her ‘Feel Brave’ — and It’s Not Prince Harry
Although usually Meghan Markle often speaks fondly about her husband, this time someone else took precedence and Prince Harry certainly won't mind it.
Meghan Markle has had a lot on her plate recently. Right after she returned from a European family vacation, she seemingly dove straight into promoting the Sundance-approved documentary, Cookie Queens, that she and Prince Harry are executive producers of. The film was released this week, as the Duchess of Sussex was spotted taking part in several promotional interviews alongside director-producer Alysa Namhias. And while Markle has often lovingly mentioned her husband during on-screen appearances, this time her kids took precedence.
During an interview with InStyle, Markle and Namhias were tasked with answering some “hard-hitting” questions sent by kids. Considering how creative and inquisitive children can be, the duo was certainly set up with a tough task. One kid asked the Duchess about what made her “feel brave”. Without a doubt, she answered that it was her “daughter”, Princess Lilibet. “Every day, when I feel a little bit like, ‘Oh gosh, can I do this?’ I go, ‘Lili would do it’.” Markle’s answer found agreement in Namhias, who said, “I feel the same way about my kids, even though they are bigger now.” Watch the video here!
The Duchess tackled a few more interesting questions. One kid asked them what their superpower was. Stunned by the inquiry, Markle answered, “Being a mom. I feel like we have superpowers because we juggle it all. And enjoy it all with grace and grit at the same time.” Another asked what she would tell her “little girl” self now, and the mother of two replied, “That life is full of surprises.”
Markle was a Girl Scout during her childhood as well, and her mother, Doria Ragland, served as their troop’s leader. She has often shared fond memories of her time as a Girl Scout, and now, all these years later, she is an executive producer of a documentary about Girl Scouts. While life may be full of surprises, it certainly came full circle for the Duchess as well.
While the fact that Cookie Queens had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year is a testament to how wonderful the documentary is, the film also seems to have appealed to Markle as a parent. “When we first saw the teaser several years ago, it was just a few minutes in length and still being put together, but it was very clear that Alysa’s vision as a director was capturing something special,” the Duchess said via PEOPLE, “The music, the cinematography, the honesty. It made both of us laugh out loud and also feel such emotion as parents. We knew we wanted to help uplift this project in any way we could.”
Cookie Queens had a theatrical release on Friday. In the past few days, Markle spoke at a promotional event in Los Angeles and also attended a special screening of the film in Ojai, California.
