Meghan Markle Shares 3-Word Advice From Her Teacher She's Not Forgotten— and It Says a Lot About Her
Meghan Markle has often talked a lot about her childhood memories and she did so once again during a promotional video for soon-to-be-released documentary, Cookie Queens.
Meghan Markle will soon see herself taking off her birthday tiara and putting on the executive producer’s hat, as Cookie Queens is set to release on Friday. The documentary had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. Recently, the Duchess of Sussex participated in a promotional interview on Tasty’s YouTube channel alongside director-producer Alysa Namhias and the Girl Scouts featured in the film.
Markle and Namhias were tasked with helping the Girl Scouts develop a unique cookie flavor in the video. The group later partook in a Q&A round, with the girls asking the duo rapid-fire questions. The Duchess was asked to reveal something she was told during her childhood that “still guides” her today. The newly 45-year-old didn’t waste a breath before replying, “My teacher, Miss Pollia, said, ‘Keep a good heart’. I just think it's one of those simple things that you can always remember no matter what situation you're in. ‘Just go, just keep a good heart.' Watch the video here!
The Girl Scouts also asked Markle and Namhias about their favorite Girl Scout cookie. The director-producer answered that among the “classics”, she was a “Thin Mint gal”. But after spending time with the girls filming for “weeks and weeks and weeks” and getting to taste so many cookies, she had become a “fan” of the lemonades. Markle also agreed to her liking for Thin Mints, before adding, “I like shortbread, so I really like the truffle oils, too. I like to dip them in jam.” The former Girl Scout’s answer piqued the young girls’ curiosity as one of them exclaimed, “Oh, wow. I've never had someone do that!” Markle further detailed, “Or sandwich them together with jam in between.”
The Duchess has always proudly shared her experience of being a Girl Scout during her school days. During her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan also revealed that her mother, Doria Ragland, was her Troop Leader. Given her history as a Girl Scout, there is no doubt why the documentary resonated with her, but she shared that the film made her feel “such emotion” as a parent. Markle told PEOPLE, “The music, the cinematography, the honesty. It made both of us (her and Prince Harry) laugh out loud and also feel such emotion as parents. We knew we wanted to help uplift this project in any way we could.”
Markle also admitted that she felt the film “100%” resonated differently with her because she is a girl mom. She also mentioned that “every girl” and “every family” would see a “part of themselves” in the stories of the Girl Scouts featured in the film. Over the past few weeks, Markle has taken part in several promotional activities for Cookie Queens. She spoke at an event in Los Angeles and also attended a special screening of the documentary at Camp Arnaz in Ojai, California.
It has certainly been a whirlwind period for the Duchess, who was in Europe last month for a special family summer vacation. No sooner had she crossed the pond than she immersed herself in executive producer duties.
