Princess Anne was 'Gold Stick-in-Waiting' at King Charles III's coronation.

The scene in question occurs after Charles III's crowning at Westminster Abbey on May 6, when both he and the procession arrive back at Buckingham Palace. As the King prepares to make his expected balcony appearance, the Princess Royal approaches him with a grin before saying: "Hello, old bean."

After calling His Majesty by the nickname she gave him, he kisses her hand as they both smile. The exchange between the then-74-year-old sovereign and his 72-year-old sister quickly won praise on X.

"Love how close they are," someone observed, while another user shared: "Love her. And her daughter and husband."

One fan stated: "HRH Princess Anne is just cool. She has a way of her own, and it's very committed and apparent in all she does," while a fourth social media user said: "Elegance to boot and a dry wit that keeps it real," when talking about the princess.

An observer commented that the royal siblings "make a great team."

Princess Anne and the then-Prince Charles were both aware of the previous coronation in 1953, when their mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was crowned at the age of 27. The future Prince of Wales was only 3 years old and attended part of the ceremony, where it has long been observed that he "looked bored" as the ancient rituals unfolded. His sister was 2 at the time and stayed behind to watch the broadcast of the event on television at Buckingham Palace.

Nearly 70 years later, the Princess Royal participated in her brother's enthronement as his Gold Stick-in-Waiting, which saw her wear her official military ceremonial uniform to the ceremony.

This insight comes after a report was released that named Anne and Charles as the two "hardest working royals" of 2023.

The Princess Royal and King Charles III were 2023' 'hardest working royals.'

Her Royal Highness completed 457 royal engagements this year, according to the Court Circular that officially lists and announces all royal appearances and duties for senior royals. Although he is predominantly involved with work as Britain's head of state, the King wasn't too far behind his sister, with 425 total engagements.

"She just gets on with it, often carrying out multiple engagements in one day. Of course, much of what the King does is behind the scenes, in meetings and going through his red boxes, which doesn’t warrant a mention in the Court Circular," former Press Secretary for Queen Elizabeth II, Dickie Arbiter, told an outlet.

Princess Anne and King Charles completed 214 and 181 engagements, respectively, in 2022, which was likely interrupted by the drastic changes that occurred when Elizabeth II died on September 8.
