Prince Harry’s recent BBC interview reportedly created shockwaves in the royal household. The Duke of Sussex claimed on air that his estranged family was allegedly behind the removal of his state-funded security to 'trap' him in the Firm and dissuade the move to the US. While Prince William has remained tight-lipped on the matter, a close friend has revealed the Prince of Wales’ true feelings toward his brother’s actions.
Harry sat down with the BBC on 2 May, just hours after the courts ruled against his appeal for taxpayer security. Following his bombshell claims, a source close to William told the Daily Beast that the Prince thinks Harry and Meghan Markle’s conduct has been 'absolutely vile'. The insider added that Harry, in his interview, suggested “he [William] has no interest in reconciling.” The source stressed that even if William did, "a period of silence would have been the right thing to do.” The outlet reports that William and King Charles have chosen to go on with their public duties since the interview. They were seen united with the rest of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony to view the flypasts for Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 5 May.
Harry had also alleged that the royal family “signaled to every single government around the world not to protect [Markle and their kids].” As per Daily Beast, in light of the same, the Prince of Wales has reportedly 'had enough' of his younger brother's antics. A former courtier revealed that William strongly believes Harry must be 'completely cut off' from the Firm. The source added, “The chaos of a royal succession is always a good moment to make decisive changes. It will be among the first things he [William] will do.” Reportedly, the Prince of Wales plans to strip the Sussexes of their titles once he becomes King.
The allegations reportedly made by William’s friend were also echoed by another royal source. Speaking to The Mirror, the insider revealed that he and Charles have 'no incentive' to speak to Harry as they have 'a major trust issue.' They added, “The Duke’s latest decision to speak publicly about his family and the situation he finds himself in will only result in him being further than ever from the reconciliation he now says he wants. There is certainly no incentive to do so when he is so free to openly criticize and only ever present one view, being his.” Reportedly, senior members of the royal family had allegedly warned Harry to cease any public attacks on the family if he wanted to mend fences with Charles and William.
Interestingly, Harry did admit in his interview that he wants to ‘reconcile’ with his estranged family. However, insiders suggest that the Duke has 'extinguished' those chances by hurting his father and brother. His bombshell accusations against the royal family came as they geared up for the much-awaited 80th anniversary of the VE Day celebrations. Reportedly, Charles had ‘one wish’ for his family: to focus on honoring the veterans rather than renewed royal divisions.
