Prince William Reveals He Once Dreamed of Becoming a DJ — And Even Had a Stage Name
Prince William shares the story behind his forgotten DJ ambitions, including the name he chose for the stage.
Prince William’s surprise appearance on The Graham Norton show had him revealing a few details from his life that will surely take everyone by surprise. While chatting with the host, he opened up about two careers he once dreamed of pursuing, and one of them was becoming a DJ!

William explained that, as a child, he had two career paths in mind: becoming a police officer or trying his hand at being a DJ. He said, “I did want to be a policeman when I was younger; I did think I would be a good policeman.”
Meanwhile, the DJ dream came with a stage name that the Prince of Wales now seems happy to laugh about. Seated alongside Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, Robert Irwin, and Jorja Smith, he told Graham Norton, “And then I went through a phase where I wanted to be a DJ, which didn’t go very well, and I came up with a name. I was called DJ Xara with an X." He added, laughing, "It wasn’t good.”
His choice of stage name did not exactly win over his fellow guests, either. Waddingham thought he said “DJ Zara” before bluntly telling him, “That's rubbish.” Blanchett also poked fun at the name, asking William if his little X-shaped hand gesture was one of his DJ moves.

Later on the show, William made many other candid revelations. He revealed that Charlotte and Louis are both hooked on The Celebrity Traitors, and bringing up his viral selfie with Taylor Swift, he joked he didn't want Travis Kelce in the picture.
The appearance comes ahead of the next Earthshot Prize ceremony, set to take place in Mumbai next month. William launched the environmental award in 2020 to support and spotlight ideas that could help tackle some of the planet's most pressing challenges.

“For many years I was hearing stories about environmental issues, and one thing that struck me was the negativity and doom, which got me down. I thought we could do something more powerful and more optimistic, and the idea of an awards ceremony came about, and we could talk about urgency and optimism together,” the future King explained.
