Expert Claims Harry and William’s Feud Deepens Over One Title — and It Involves Meghan

According to a royal expert, the feud between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry may have gotten worse over a simple three-letter word.

According to a royal expert, the feud between estranged brothers Prince William and Prince Harry may have gotten worse over a simple three-letter word that involves Meghan Markle. The claim adds to the long-running suspicions that the rift between Harry, William, and the rest of the royal family had Markle at the centre of it all. A source recently revealed that William is seriously annoyed that Markle is still using the 'HRH' title.

As per Ok! magazine, Harry and Markle had agreed to stop using their 'His/ Her Royal Highness' titles after stepping down from their royal roles in January 2020. However, eagle-eyed fans recently noted that Markle was still using the honor. Markle’s friend, entrepreneur and podcaster Jamie Kern Lima, shared a photo on Instagram of a gift basket she received, which was signed as "HRH The Duchess of Sussex.” As reported by Hello! magazine, the signature has reignited royal tensions, as it was seen as a clear violation of the late Queen Elizabeth's wishes.

The gift basket included several items from Markle’s brand, As Ever — tea, jam, and edible flowers. Commenting on the same, royal expert Stéphane Bern said, “These three letters have reignited tensions at the very heart of the monarchy.” Meanwhile, a source close to the Sussexes claimed that Harry and Markle have retained their HRH titles, but they cannot use them for any commercial purposes. They argued that, in this case, too, it was only used as a personal gift to Lima.

William and Harry haven’t been on talking terms for years, but Markle using the royal title to promote her products has allegedly made things even worse. As per reports, William particularly sees it as crossing the line. Back in 2020, Buckingham Palace clarified its stance on the matter in a statement. It read, “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.” Meanwhile, on their website, the Sussexes shared, “As agreed and set out in January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their 'HRH' prefix, thereby formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex."

Commenting on Markle's alleged disobedience, a former royal insider claimed, “Charles might be happy to put up with this, but William won’t. He loathes and despises Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body, he believes they have betrayed everything the family stands for, and the idea that they are using their royal status as a calling card will enrage him,” as reported by The Daily Beast.
