Sarah Ferguson Longs for U.K. Return to Be With Family—But Fears Potential Legal Fallout
Sarah Ferguson may be ready to return to Britain, but a new report claims one major fear is still standing in her way.
Sarah Ferguson has kept an incredibly low profile outside of the U.K. since her past ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to light. However, according to sources, she would love nothing more than to spend more time in the country with her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Above all, she reportedly wants the opportunity to see her grandchildren more often.
Rob Shuter revealed in his Substack, Naughty But Nice, that Ferguson has come to terms with no longer being a royal in the public eye and is now reportedly planning a return to Britain. One insider shared, “Sarah knows there’s no road back to public life. She’s made peace with that. What she wants now isn’t a comeback—it’s a normal family life surrounded by the people she loves.”
However, the report noted that Ferguson has one major concern, knowing that returning to Britain will not be as simple as packing her bags. Another source claimed, “She knows there won’t be a warm welcome from the Royal Family or London’s social circles.” The insider added that the headlines surrounding Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, as well as Ferguson's own past friendship with Epstein, are incredibly difficult to move past.
“She’s realistic. The headlines haven’t gone away, and neither has the controversy surrounding Andrew and her friendship with Jeffrey Epstein,” they said. Even so, Shuter wrote that her loyalty to her ex-husband remains unchanged. A longtime friend told the royal expert, “Sarah has never abandoned Andrew. Their bond has survived everything, and she has no intention of turning her back on him now.”
Still, Shuter's report claimed that Ferguson has one major concern keeping her from returning to Britain. Sources alleged she fears the move could put her under fresh legal scrutiny. “Sarah worries that returning could expose her to fresh legal scrutiny or even the possibility of arrest,” an insider said. “Whether those fears are justified or not, they’re very real to her, and they’ve kept her away,” they added.
Fergie has kept a remarkably low profile for much of this year. She was last seen publicly in spring 2026 at the exclusive Mayrlife wellness clinic in Altaussee, Austria, after photographs surfaced of her at the secluded retreat in the Austrian Alps. Once her location was exposed, she packed her bags, left the resort, and relied on trusted friends to stay out of the spotlight. "Sarah has good friends. People who know her well are happy to help her. She won’t be left with nowhere to go," a source told Daily Mail. While the cloud of past scandals continues to dictate her travel choices, it remains to be seen if or when the Duchess will safely make her long-awaited return to British soil.
