The Unexpected Way Sarah Ferguson Showed Her Support For Andrew During Tough Times
In 2010, Sarah was caught selling access to Andrew to an undercover journalist posing as a businessman.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson had parted ways long before they found each other in the eye of a storm after both were found to have links with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Both former spouses are now facing the consequences of their names surfacing in the scandal, as the ex-prince has been forced to give up royal privileges. During one such challenging period of their life, the former Prince held on to memories of Sarah in unexpected ways. He allegedly kept a surprising memento related to Sarah, even during a royal outing.
In 2010, Sarah was caught on film selling access to Andrew to an undercover journalist posing as a businessman. Since the scandal occurred the year before the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 and caused massive backlash, she was not invited to the event. Additionally, according to the podcast host Tim Stanley, Sarah spent her time at a spa in Thailand to isolate herself. As reported by The Mirror, he said, "Well, apparently, she stayed in this Thai spa which didn't even have a TV in the room, and she thought, 'I'm just not going to watch the wedding. I just don't...I don't want to do it to myself. I don't deserve this.’"
Later on, Sarah broke down and contacted one of her friends to know what was actually happening. Stanley said, "[She] rang her friend in England and got them to hold the telephone up to the TV so that she could listen to it. But she heard afterwards that, apparently, Andrew had kept a photo of Fergie in his wallet throughout the wedding." Sarah herself spoke about the incident during an interview with US TV host Oprah Winfrey. She opened up about the emotional toll of being unable to attend the ceremony alongside her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
She also said, "It was so hard because the last bride up that aisle was me." As of now, Sarah hasn't been spotted for several weeks after her past links to Epstein were made public. Royal editor Victoria Ward revealed just days ago that speculation about her location has ranged from staying with Priscilla Presley in Los Angeles to visiting Swiss clinics, and spending time at Sandringham Estate, where Andrew has a home. On the other hand, Buckingham Palace announced a few months ago that Andrew has been stripped of his 'prince' title and will leave his Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge.
As reported by the BBC, the statement read, "His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease." They further added, "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of all forms of abuse."
