Royal Commentator Backs Meghan Markle’s "Sensible Decision," Claims She Deserves an Apology
Royal commentator shows why the tabloids owe Meghan Markle an apology.
In an engaging conversation with John Rom, associate editor at The Royal Observer, on The Palace Unfiltered, royal commentator Afua Hagan shared her thoughts on the ongoing controversy surrounding Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle Sr. When asked if these serious allegations would alter how people look at Markle’s relationship with her father going forward, she nodded with a warm smile and responded, "Listen, it completely changes the narrative because now we have context, and we didn’t have context before.”

Elaborating on her point, Hagan added, “What we had before was a woman who decided to go no-contact with her father through a decision which was entirely hers. Even if you remove where we are now from the equation, that decision was entirely hers. It wasn’t for the press to rake over it and write all these column inches saying that she was cruel and she was unforgiving, and all the rest of it.” She went on to explain that with new context available, the Duchess of Sussex looks like a woman who discovered something “incredibly awful and incomprehensible” about her own father.

She also emphasized that when Markle learned about this, she was about to start her own family and therefore was simply doing what was necessary to protect herself, her partner, and her children. Hagan believes that beyond providing more context, the leaked information serves as a vindication. She added, “Well, it’s more than a vindication. Look, she made the tough decision after she had found out what she did; through that letter from the Metropolitan Police, she didn’t want to have any more contact with her father, and she didn’t want her children to have any contact with their grandfather. I think that’s a woman who has made a very sensible decision!”

Last but not least, she discussed how this development provides insight into why Markle and Prince Harry are so protective of their children. She also believes it genuinely feeds into the fears the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have regarding Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s security. Hagan further added, “Now we know, now we know. And I think you know, there are several tabloid newspapers out there, and people who wrote for them, that owe the Duchess an apology.” Unfortunately, she believes Markle will not be given that apology, but she closed her statement by reiterating that she definitely deserves one!
