Meghan Markle is undoubtedly going through some of the toughest and most complicated days of her life. She is working hard to come to terms with the horrendous allegations involving underage individuals that continue to pile up against her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr. According to recent reports by HELLO!, the Duchess of Sussex’s phone has been ringing non-stop with friends from around the world calling to check in on her and the family. One friend even spoke to the outlet, sharing, “She's just really, really upset!”

The friend further added, “She keeps on looking at Lili, and she's in tears, and thinking about all the children, the alleged victims. She has young children herself. It's just devastating." They also explained that while Markle had made the decision to step away from social media and stop reading coverage for the sake of her mental health, it apparently is not working. They added, “But obviously, she's been getting sent a lot of messages from friends in the UK and people all over saying how sorry they are, but it's just been an emotional rollercoaster for her.”

They also shared that while the Duchess is trying her best to cope with everything, “she's in bits." In the wake of these events, recent reports indicate that Markle and Prince Harry have decided to take their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, overseas for a short break. During this time, they are reportedly staying with close friends to help ease the strain on the family. Her inner circle continues to check in regularly to help the Duke and Duchess navigate these unexpectedly daunting times.

Markle also released a statement last week addressing the ongoing controversy and her decision to maintain distance from her father. She expressed, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications' distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children was for one reason: to protect them. I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families.” She explained that everything coming to light is simply horrific, while voicing her sincere hope that justice will be fully served and that the safety and protection of children remains the top priority.
