Meghan Markle’s Half-Brother Reverses Stance on Their Father in Apology to Her : ‘I’m Ashamed'
Meghan Markle's half-brother has seemingly changed his stance on her after the recent scandal.
In 2018, as the world eagerly awaited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, the bride’s world seemed to crumble amid media storms and allegations that her father, Thomas Markle, staged paparazzi photos. The controversy eventually resulted in a rift between them, with her half-siblings Thomas Jr. and Samantha Markle taking their father’s side. So much so that her father did not even attend the wedding. But after the recent scandal, Markle’s half-brother has come around and recently apologized to her.
After Thomas Jr. discovered incriminating material in his father’s former Philippines home, the Duchess of Sussex came forward acknowledging that the Met Police had shared a letter detailing the 'disturbing allegations' with her several years ago. And that was the reason she had kept her children away from their maternal grandfather all these years, as their estrangement was initially attributed to her father’s relationship with the paparazzi.
The current horrifying situation may have prompted her half-brother to understand her perspective, as he recently apologized to her. “I’m so, so sorry, Meghan,” he said via The Sun. “I now know I have been protecting the wrong person for the past nine years. Having seen what I have seen, I believe the man I’ve been defending and caring for is a monster. I now know exactly why you don’t talk to him anymore and why you won’t let him meet Harry or his grandchildren. And I’m ashamed that I spent years taking his side when you fell out with him.”
Growing up, Markle was reportedly not close to her half-siblings, and they have a massive age gap. Thomas Jr. acknowledged they were 'not close,' but he still remembered 'holding' her as a baby and 'looking after' her when she was 'small.' He further implored her to 'accept' his apology and wished her and her family “all the best for the future.”
Their father has denied all allegations, calling them 'sick lies'. Samantha has also shown her support for him. Philippine authorities are investigating the matter, with the FBI reportedly supporting them.
The scandal is undoubtedly a major shock, especially since Harry and Markle are currently in the UK and had seemingly just settled down after security concerns and personal dramas.
