Princessess Beatrice and Eugenie Maintain Ties With Woman Who Once ‘Threatened’ Kate Middleton
Kate’s past tension resurfaces as Beatrice and Eugenie stay close to William’s former flame.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have been under scrutiny ever since their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was linked to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Now, reports have suggested that the York sisters and Kate have not been on particularly good terms, with one possible reason being their connection to Isabella Calthorpe. Isabella Calthorpe, now known as Isabella Branson after her marriage to Sam Branson, is often described as the one person who genuinely made Catherine, Princess of Wales, feel a little uneasy. Back in 2004, during a brief break between Prince William and Kate, he was said to be quite taken with Isabella. He even tried to pursue her, and that is why her name has lingered in royal circles ever since.
According to a report by the Scottish Daily Express, journalist Katie Nicholl wrote in her book 'William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls' that Branson showed up at a ‘lads holiday’ in 2005, where a relationship with William blossomed. However, William and Kate eventually got back together after another brief split in 2007 and married in 2011. Still, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have stayed friendly with Isabella and even attended her 2013 wedding to Sam Branson. That said, William had also invited Branson to his wedding with Kate in 2011.
Recent reports have also claimed that William is the reason why rumors of Beatrice and Eugenie being sidelined are floating around. Allegedly, the future King is focused on keeping the monarchy smaller and more streamlined before he eventually takes the throne. Moreover, his relationship with Eugenie was apparently on thin ice ever since she publicly backed Prince Harry.
Beatrice and Eugenie will not be attending the Easter celebration with the Royal Family due to the ongoing controversy involving their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. The decision to keep the sisters at a distance was made so that they would not attract unwanted attention to the family. They are said to have lined up their own plans instead, with King Charles III reportedly backing their choice. This comes amid earlier chatter that the sisters had been left off the guest list for Royal Ascot, but those rumors have been brushed off by several sources.
The whole situation really ties back to the ongoing drama around Prince Andrew, whose past controversies linked to Epstein have kept him under a microscope. With the release of the new batch of Epstein files, things have only gotten worse over time. King Charles III stripped him of his royal titles, and he was pushed out of Royal Lodge. He was also arrested on his birthday over misconduct allegations in office, under suspicion that he shared confidential government information with Epstein.
All of that has naturally put extra attention on Beatrice and Eugenie, especially after their names popped up in Epstein-related documents, though just being mentioned does not mean they did anything wrong. Currently, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is living at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
