Education Fit for a King: Prince William and Princess Kate Look at Proposed '47,000 Pound Per Year' School for Prince George
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, are ensuring that Prince George will have a first rate education, benefitting a future head of state.
Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales, are currently trying to decide where to send Prince George to school after his prep school, Lambrook, runs its course. The future king and queen are said to be going back and forth between Eton College — William's alma mater — and Marlborough College, which is where Kate graduated from. However, the king and queen-in-waiting are reportedly also considering another option.
Their Royal Highnesses are also looking at St. Edward's School in Oxford, which comes with a 47,000 pound per year price tag. It is believed the pair think the school is a good fit for George, who is second in line to the throne, and reportedly visited the location shortly before the princess had abdominal surgery. Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it's tradition. Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-class institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy," another royal source told an outlet when discussing the future monarch and queen consort's plans.
They continued: "Plus, she'll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won."
There is rampant speculation that George will attend the renowned Eton College near Windsor Castle. But "Kate thinks sending George to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy," the source continued.
"Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition," they added.
"Eton College is a charity for the advancement of education. At its heart sits an independent boys' boarding school which leads a dynamic range of educational activities and an expanding network of educational partnerships," the school's mission statement reads. "The charity’s primary purpose, determined from its Christian foundation in 1440, is to draw out the best of young people’s talents and to enable them to flourish and make a positive impact on others through the course of a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life."
A lot has happened in the last 18 months for the royal family, and they can't possibly protect him from all of it; there have been huge events; the Queen has died, and that has pushed William and Kate up a gear, up a rank, and by definition, George as well," royal author Tessa Dunlop observed last July.
Prince George is roughly two years away from attending secondary school, and his parents are both showing interest in Eton College for him, which hosted both Prince William and Harry as students in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Royal author Robert Lacey told a publication that the prince was made aware of his future destiny as Sovereign in 2020 when William and Kate sat him down to talk about it. So it was only a matter of time before George started to comprehend the "Megxit" drama, experts claim.
