Prince William Has a Secret Weapon Against Prince Harry and Meghan — And It Could Change Everything
Prince William is reportedly preparing his PR team to help him transition to the future King.
Ever since they made their unexpected return to Britain, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been trying to work hard to carve out a new identity and role for their new beginnings. However, it seems like Prince William is adamant about standing in the way. According to reports, the Prince is more than prepared for the grand battle, especially when it comes to all things PR. According to a recent report by The iPaper, the Prince of Wales has been quietly working overtime to build his communications team. This is a step that he is apparently taking his role as the heir to the next level.
In fact, according to Anne McElvoy, the executive editor at Politico and co-host of Politics at Sam and Anne's podcast, William is building a team to stand by his side throughout his climb to the top. McElvoy also explained that, “Liza Ravenscroft joined from the Edelman PR giant as a 'crisis comms' expert, which was a result of recognition that adversities like the ousting of Prince Andrew could cause sudden problems traditional structures were not equipped for.” She further added that, “He also hired Tom White, a Lieutenant Colonel who worked with Queen Elizabeth, as Catherine's private secretary and Lee Thompson, an alum of the Freuds communications dynasty and US television, to work on their international resonance and longer-term strategy.”
On the other hand, Harry and Markle reportedly happen to be seriously underprepared for what might lie ahead. They are seemingly working with the same PR team that was backing them in the United States. According to McElvoy, “This is the same team who looked after a different incarnation in the US, left the duo under-armed in the public relations battle.” At the end of the day, it’s quite safe to say that even Markle had noticed this point. After all, she truly understands public perception and is a master at the game.
In fact, Harry was reportedly also planning to visit the territory of Royal Norfolk, the areas around King's Lynn and the Sandringham estate. It seems like his reasons were possibly associated with his need to reconnect with some of his old charitable endeavors in Britain.
However, William wasn’t game and therefore, these plans never ended up materializing. This was apparently just a glimpse of the future King’s power. Meanwhile, the Sussexes’ PR team was only informed about the Palace’s recently released letter an hour before it was officially sent out to the media. This kept all sorts of disagreements and clarifications at bay. This also made it clear that at this moment in time, the Sussexes have successfully established a fresh base in Harry’s homeland.
They have their dream home in the countryside, just outside of London, and the schools they wanted for their children. But it’s obvious that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex really want roles, recognition, and reputation, and William and his team are reportedly going to make sure that this desire is not going to be met, at any cost.
