Megyn Kelly Blasts Meghan Markle Over Major Career Milestone and She's Not the Only One: 'How Cringy'
An Emmy nomination should've been a happy moment, but not everyone was ready to celebrate Meghan Markle's major Netflix milestone.
Meghan Markle celebrated a major career milestone after her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, earned a Daytime Emmy nomination. While the recognition delighted both her and her supporters, some of her most vocal critics were left entirely unimpressed. Among them was American journalist and commentator Megyn Kelly, who lambasted the show on her podcast, branding it the "worst product to hit television" in the past five years and slamming its cringeworthy, out-of-touch premise.
During the July 15 episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, posted on YouTube, Kelly blasted the series' nomination in the Outstanding Lifestyle Series category. She sneered, "It's amazing to me. Quite possibly the actual worst product to hit television over the past five years, and now she [Markle] has managed to get an Emmy. I forgot just how cringy it was." With Love, Meghan has previously been criticized for being out of touch with reality and glamorizing a luxurious lifestyle alongside celebrity friends. One episode notably featured the Duchess transferring Trader Joe's peanut butter pretzel nuggets into a personalized Ziploc bag—a moment critics pointed to as proof of their point.
Sharing her thoughts on that criticism, Kelly mocked, "We have to elevate everything. You can elevate your peanuts and your pretzels by taking them from the store-bought bag and transferring them into a cellophane bag." She continued, "This is one of the most glamorous moments of my life. Sure, that's how my friends talk to me, too, when they come over. They're always telling me how glamorous everything is when they're hanging out with me." The host further opined that the Duchess has "got enough juice left" to score an Emmy nod, which she dismissed as meaningless but "right on brand" for her.
Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time Kelly has publicly aired her grievances against Markle. Following the Sussexes' April Australia tour, the American host appeared alongside Paul Murray on Sky News Australia, accusing the Duchess of being the driving force behind her husband's estrangement from his family. Taking a swipe at Markle's acting career, she scoffed, "He's [Charles] had his son give up everything he gave the son for some loser grifter from Deal or No Deal." She claimed Markle "decided to wrest him [Harry] away from the royal family and everybody who took care of him and gave him every gift in the world."
Regardless of the criticism, the Duchess of Sussex was overjoyed by her Emmy nod. Taking to Instagram, she shared a photo from the show alongside a heartfelt message dedicated to the team behind the camera. She beamed in the caption: "A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on 'With Love, Meghan' on @netflix. We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!"
