King Charles & Prince William ‘Seething’ as Legal Hurdles Keep Andrew in Line of Succession: Source
According to sources, attempts to explore his removal have hit a wall, as there’s no clear precedent in existing law.
Ever since Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was involved in a controversy connected to Jeffrey Epstein, the royal family has been figuring out a way to boot him from the line of succession. According to an exclusive report from OK! Magazine, Prince William, and King Charles are said to be frustrated by the complicated legal hurdles standing in the way. Despite losing his royal titles, Mountbatten-Windsor remains eighth in line to the throne.
According to sources, attempts to explore his removal have hit a wall, as there’s no clear precedent in existing law. An insider revealed, “There is a palpable sense William and Charles are seething and frustrated behind the scenes over the labyrinthine complications stopping Andrew from being axed from the line of succession, because while the public mood is clear, the legal reality is just proving far too extraordinarily difficult to navigate.”
The situation is further complicated by historic laws like the 1701 Act of Settlement, which secures succession rights for descendants of the Electress Sophia of Hanover. The Statute of Westminster 1931 also requires approval from all 15 Commonwealth realms before any changes to succession laws can be made. The source added, “They would love to see swift action, but the system itself is so complex that even beginning that process raises questions that do not have straightforward answers.” Insiders say the process is complicated, with questions over whether any legal change would target him only or include his immediate family.
Mountbatten-Windsor got caught up with Jeffrey Epstein, as they had been friends since the 1990s. However, things turned controversial when Virginia Giuffre accused Andrew of s------- abusing her as a minor. On his 66th birthday, he was also arrested following the release of new Epstein files on February 19. He was questioned over allegations that he shared sensitive information with the convicted pedophile while serving as a UK trade envoy. He was released later, but authorities are still probing the case.
The disgraced ex-Prince was stripped of his royal titles “Prince” and “Duke of York,” and military honors. King Charles pushed him out of the Royal Lodge along with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, and distanced him from official royal life. He has been staying at Wood Farm Cottage on the King’s Sandringham estate until he moves to the Marsh Farm. Moreover, his two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, did not attend this year’s Easter celebrations with the royal family due to the ongoing situation.
Recently, Mountbatten-Windsor’s former assistant was officially recognized at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. It was because she agreed to cooperate with the police and share all details from her time working under the former royal. Charlotte Manley also served as a Personal Assistant and Treasurer between 2001 and 2003. She was seen travelling with him across various cities, including New York, Bulgaria, Brazil, Peru, and Canada.
