Over the last few years, the legal troubles surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have remained a constant topic of discussion, mainly because of his past connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the civil case filed by Virginia Giuffre. While the controversy initially saw a costly out-of-court settlement, new information and several testimonies are still emerging. In recent news, it has been revealed that one of Andrew's former aides has made the significant decision to cooperate with the police investigation, revealing all that she knows about her former employer. She was also officially recognized at Tuesday’s investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The 68-year-old woman, Charlotte Manley, served as Andrew’s Personal Assistant and Treasurer between 2001 and 2003, and previously held the role of a senior assistant. Not just this, she was frequently seen accompanying the former Prince on his overseas visits when he took on the role of UK Special Trade Envoy in 2011. These official trips spanned various destinations such as New York, Bulgaria, Brazil, Peru, and Canada, as reported by HELLO Magazine. Earlier this month, Manley confirmed her cooperation with police, agreeing to share all the details from the time when she worked under the disgraced former royal.

While facing the rapid media questions, Manley had said, "I would rather talk to the police than the press, not that I would have much to tell them." This cooperation did not go unnoticed, as she was officially appointed as a Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (DCVO) by King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The achievement came after being named in the monarch’s 2026 New Year’s Honours List. This prestigious title of a Dame Commander represents the second-highest honor in the Royal Victorian Order.

It's worth noting that before she entered the royal service, Manley spent two decades in the Royal Navy, serving with dedication from 1976 to 1996. Moreover, after her work with Andrew, she went on to take up more roles within the Royal Household, most notably as chapter clerk at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, though she stepped down from the position last year. Previously, Manley was appointed as an OBE in 1996 and was made Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in 2018. More recently, she was a part of the party that welcomed President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to Windsor for a state visit in 2025.

Meanwhile, Andrew is currently facing a police probe over allegations that he may have shared some confidential information with Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy. He was reportedly arrested on his 66th birthday last month and was held in custody for around 11 hours before being released. The ex-royal has always denied any wrongdoing on his part. This past weekend, he was also spotted checking on his horses at Sandringham Estate, as he prepares to settle into his new home, Marsh Farm, located on the Norfolk estate.
