Experts Say Charles and William's Attendance at Harry's Invictus Games Hinges on Two Key 'Equations'

Prince Harry’s BBC interview has left folks hoping for a royal reconciliation. Experts have suggested that the Invictus Games 2027, which is to be held in Birmingham, will be the perfect occasion for the Duke to reunite with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William. However, their decision to attend the sporting event is still in question. Royal commentators recently shared their two cents on the same, discussing whether the monarch and heir should make an appearance at the Games.
Insiders have claimed that the royal family will definitely receive an invitation to the mega event. According to expert Bronte Coy, who spoke on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, the situation is a ‘difficult one’. She said, “There's a lot of sympathy, understanding, and respect for the King's and William's position because I think anyone can relate that if you've been spoken about publicly, and had your personal issues with family members aired in that way, of course, you would be angry. And of course, you'd be well within your right to shut it down and cut him off because there's no trust.” However, in Coy’s views, they may risk looking ‘petty’ by passing over an event that honors UK veterans. She explained, “It's in the UK and you're talking about the military community of which the royals are very, very, very entwined. You do run the risk of looking a little bit petty if they don't go and support it, given their position in supporting the military community.” Coy, hence dubbed the matter on royal attendance at Invictus ‘complicated’ and claimed that the invite would spark a lot of discussion in the Palace.
Former Palace spokesperson, Dickie Arbiter, chimed in and argued that Harry needs to "clear up a lot of bad air" to get his father and brother to the event “because William really doesn't want to have anything to do with him.” Arbiter added, “A parent is slightly different. He [Charles] loves his son, but he's very hurt by what his son has done, and there doesn't seem to be any move of rapprochement.” He further opined, “It would cause a massive headache because you don't just roll over having been rubbished for such a long time.” The ex-spokesperson continued, “To rubbish the royal family to that extent and then expect everybody to roll over, kiss and make up, all is forgiven. There's an equation to this, and the other half of the equation is Mrs Sussex.”

Harry, since his reconciliation plea in the BBC interview, has seemingly not taken any further steps toward making things right with his family. He has clarified that his father does not answer his calls, hinting that things stand more broken than ever with his family. If Charles decides to attend the Invictus Games, it would be the first time that he and Harry would be under the same roof since he visited his father after his health scare. According to People magazine, the invitations to the Games have not been sent out yet.
