Expert Thinks Harry and Meghan’s Recent Trip Could be a 'Secret Message' to William and Kate
Royal expert Ingrid Seward believes the Sussexes' Jordan trip could pave the way for a reconciliation with their estranged family in the UK.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent trip to Jordan was hailed by many as a successful humanitarian visit that showed the royal family what they were missing. However, royal expert Ingrid Seward begged to differ, arguing that the Sussexes' intentions were not meant as a royal snub. Instead, she believes Harry and Markle were attempting to trigger a truce with Prince William and Kate Middleton—signaling that they could help ease the burden of royal engagements by working with them in the future.
Speaking to The Mirror, Seward suggested that the Sussexes' visit to Jordan could help them reunite with the royal family in the UK. She said, "Their trip to the Middle East appears to be part political, part message – and is it a secret message to William and Kate, or a blatant one?" She added, "They [the Sussexes] wouldn't have known what was going to happen [with Andrew] when they planned the trip, but the not-so-secret message is: 'We're here, we can help, we can do this with you' – and that can only work to Harry and Meghan's advantage," referring to a potential reconciliation with the Waleses.
Moreover, the royal expert mentioned Middleton's childhood in the Middle Eastern country, which Harry and Markle may have seen as leverage to extend a helping hand. She continued, "It is very possible there could be a personal royal truce and a reunion in that sense. But a professional royal truce, in terms of the Sussexes ever working as royals again, is very unlikely, despite the other difficulties in the family." Undoubtedly, she also believed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest and the royals' vulnerable position because of it might have influenced Harry to extend an olive branch.
Given these circumstances, Seward was 'absolutely sure' that Harry may have contacted William and King Charles to comfort them as they dealt with the fallout. She argued, "Whether they have spoken, though… that is a different matter. But I'm sure he [Harry] has contacted William and his father to express huge sympathy for what's going on and has tried to keep in touch." However, the royal expert had a strict warning for Harry and Markle if they were actively trying to reconcile with the royal family. She cautioned, "Both Meghan and Harry like to do things their own way, so that may always be an issue for his brother."
Concerning Middleton's take on a possible truce, Seward claimed that the Princess of Wales, who is 'angry' with the Duke of Sussex, will support her husband in whatever decision he would take about Harry. "I don't think they [the Sussexes] are pliable enough to return to the roles they once had." She also felt that Harry and Markle would be unwilling to give up their quiet life in the US, saying, "Would Harry want to come back and leave his very comfortable life in California? It's so beautiful in Montecito, and they've got the most amazing house."
