The ice may finally break between Prince William and Prince Harry. Princess Kate has allegedly taken the matter into her own hands and is said to be trying her best to mend their fractured bond, even if it causes some friction within her own marriage. For years, the distance between the once inseparable brothers has only widened. From Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from royal duties in 2020 to the bombshell revelations in the Duke’s memoir Spare, the brothers have been at a physical standstill. Though not for long, as the Princess of Wales is ready to play peacemaker.

With King Charles still undergoing cancer treatment, the gravity of the situation has reportedly shifted Princess Kate’s perspective. Sources close to Radar Online suggest that Kate is steeling herself to bypass the usual royal channels of communication and reach out directly to Markle with a desperate hope to reunite the brothers. But why the Duchess of Sussex? Reportedly, the Princess believes that any path to reconciliation must first involve a peace offering to Markle. Unsurprisingly, as per insiders, the Prince of Wales is said to be strongly against the move, preferring to keep the established boundaries in place; Kate is adamant about looking at the bigger picture.

A source close to the situation told the outlet, “Kate has nothing but peace and love in her heart moving into 2026. She's willing to open up dialogue with Meghan after years of giving her the silent treatment, even if Prince William thinks it's a terrible idea.” The insider continued, “She's painfully aware there's no path to Harry without getting Meghan's blessing. That's why she's working with her staff to figure out a viable approach to Meghan.”

The Princess of Wales’ plans might just work out, as Harry and Markle are expected back in the UK this summer for the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, presenting a perfect stage for a brotherly reunion. While this will provide a natural window to bridge the divide, Kate will also need to revisit the ghosts of the past, including the infamous bridesmaid dress fallout, in hopes of securing the future of the institution. While her move is aimed at working for the stability of the Firm, William, on the other hand, doesn’t even want to be in the same room as his younger brother.

King Charles is said to be fully on board to mend ties with Harry and Markle, something that has allegedly left William seething. The monarch is said to have offered Highgrove House for the Duke and Duchess to stay at when they return to the UK. While Charles wants to embrace his younger son, the Prince of Wales is furious over the fact that his ‘dad is falling for the bait.’ An insider told the National Examiner that the Prince has a lot of ‘resentment’ for the Sussexes. That’s why he’s taking all the necessary steps to ‘protect himself’ as well as the future of the Crown, pointing towards a different style of handling things when he is King. "That’s why he’s gone and hired a new crisis PR team to help him get ahead of anything that happens with Harry and Meghan going forward," they noted.  While William is not keen on mending ties, Harry has previously stated that he would like to reunite with his family.
