King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the rest of the royal family marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 5 May. The solemn celebrations saw the monarch and his family view the Red Arrows flypast from the Buckingham Palace balcony. Analyzing footage from the day, body language expert Judi James claims Charles pulled a ‘power move’ on the balcony as a fitting response to Prince Harry, following his explosive BBC interview.

Charles appeared impassive and composed despite the latest bombshell claims made by Harry post the loss of his court case. James told The Mirror, “Royal balcony moments always show the Firm at their highest status, best, standing in a position of ultimate power as a strong family unit while looking down on the massed crowds of their subjects, all cheering wildly to show their support.” She added, “This confident, stoic appearance suggested high levels of the kind of resilience that the Royal Family are always known for.”

James also highlighted the unity and closeness among the royal siblings, noting how strongly they looked out for one another. She explained, “During one moment on the balcony, Princess Anne…seemed to notice that Charles was waving to go indoors before the anthem had been played. Placing a hand out to pat him affectionately on the back, she seemed to warn him so he could turn and get into position.” Additionally, James pointed out a touching moment between Prince George and Prince Louis while the anthem played. She noted, “George was caught with his hands still clasped in front of his body…it was the normally playful Louis who seemed to quickly correct him before turning back.”

Charles allegedly had ‘one wish’ for his family before the big day, He reportedly wanted them to keep their focus on honoring the veterans on VE Day rather than be bothered by Harry’s interview. As per the BBC, the Palace hoped that nothing would "detract or distract from celebrating with full cheer and proud hearts that precious victory and those brave souls, on this most special and poignant of anniversaries".

As for Harry, the Prince recently came under fire and was accused of trying to steal the spotlight ahead of the big event. As the royal family geared up for the grand celebrations, the Duke of Sussex sat down for an interview to comment on his court battle for state-funded security. Harry seized the moment to throw jabs at his estranged family, claiming, “Not only did they decide to remove my security in the U.K., but they also signaled to every single government around the world not to protect us.” Despite putting on a brave face, sources close to the monarch say Charles was ‘horrified’ and ‘upset’ by the claims the Duke threw at him and his family. Insiders also added that a reconciliation between father and son seems highly unlikely now.
