Prince William and his family joined other senior royals to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. On 5 May, the royal family proudly watched the military procession and flypast held to honor veterans. However, young Prince Louis ended up stealing the spotlight with his cheeky antics. Analyzing footage of the same, lip reader Nicola Hickling revealed that Louis had a brutal comment for William, leaving him dumbfounded.
During the parade, Louis was seen brushing raindrops off his father's shoulder, prompting William to turn towards him and tap him on the leg. Hickling told The Sun that William allegedly told Louis, “Look at this, I think it's going to be quite wet today.” The young Prince then fired back with a savage remark to his dad: “Wasn't this supposed to be fun?” William, caught off guard, reportedly replied, “It is, son.” The father of three followed up with, “You will never forget this,” and then proceeded to explain how the parade works.
The Prince of Wales was patient with young Louis, who just turned 7 recently. Hickling claims William then told Louis, “They will come along here, and then go towards there, and then we will make our way back.” After Louis was seen not taking much interest, William reportedly retorted with, “It’s not going to be long, and I want you to be taking on interest.” Hickling also noted Prince George, fidgeting with his eye. She claimed George soon complained, “I’ve got something in my eye.” The lip reader also caught a delightful and heartwarming conversation between Kate Middleton and Louis's big sister, Princess Charlotte. Middleton reportedly asked her daughter, “Doesn’t Papa look smart today?”
While VE Day usually makes headlines for its grand military parades, this year, it was Louis’s hilarious behavior that stole the spotlight from the pomp. A footage shared by Sky News on X showed him adorably mocking his older brother, George, during the parade. The camera initially captured George struggling with his hair on his face. Seconds later, his younger brother casually mocked him by imitating his gestures in front of thousands of people.
Chiming in, body language expert Judi James praised the family’s composure and show of unity on VE Day. She also noted that young Louis was adorably looking out for his siblings. She told The Mirror, “When the anthem was played, he stood to attention like his sister, but he suddenly turned to check out his older brother George behind him.” The expert added, “George was caught with his hands still clasped in front of his body, and, in a complete turnaround, it was the normally playful Louis who seemed to quickly correct him before turning back.” Louis was also seen sticking his tongue out during the event, which has become a trademark gesture for the young royal.
