Andrew Sent Christmas Cards With Beatrice and Eugenie’s Photos to Epstein, New Email Reveals
Trigger Warning: This article contains themes of child sexual abuse that some readers may find distressing.
Despite Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's repeated assertions that he severed ties with Jeffrey Epstein after his 2008 arrest, newly released Epstein files prove otherwise. A fresh batch of emails pulls the curtain on his lies, showing that the former Prince remained in contact with the disgraced financier and even sent him Christmas cards. Those cards also included photos of his young daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, then aged 23 and 21, a detail likely to intensify scrutiny of his past statements.
In documents released by the US Department of Justice, the former Duke of York sent holiday cards in both 2011 and 2012, three years after the late financier was jailed for indecent assault against minors. The first card, sent on December 21, 2011, carried Mountbatten-Windsor's handwritten signature and extended wishes for "much joy and happiness at this time and for the year ahead," just after Epstein was released from prison. In one of the pictures, Beatrice can be seen wearing a silver Christmas cracker hat and earmuffs, while Eugenie wears a fur hat and a brown scarf. Other photos included a snow-blanketed Royal Lodge and a playful cartoon seemingly depicting Mountbatten-Windsor walking his dogs.
A subsequent card, sent on December 20, 2012, again featured the Princesses engaging in different activities. Among the images was a shot of Beatrice during a February 2012 expedition to Mont Blanc, posing with one hand on her hip. Meanwhile, Eugenie was shown participating in a Night Rider charity cycle through London, dressed in high-visibility gear and a helmet. It also included a photo of Mountbatten-Windsor's former wife, Sarah Ferguson, underscoring the personal tone of his correspondence.
Back in 2019, when asked about his controversial association with Epstein during his BBC Newsnight interview, Mountbatten-Windsor said, "By mutual agreement during that walk in the park, we decided that we would part company, and I left. I think it was the next day, and to this day, I never had any contact with him from that day forward," while referring to a photo of them strolling through Central Park in New York City. When questioned whether he stayed at the disgraced financier's home in 2010, he responded, "I stayed with him …I kick myself for on a daily basis because it was not something that was becoming of a member of the royal family … and I let the side down."
Meanwhile, his ex-wife, Ferguson, has made similar statements in the past, only to be caught in a red-faced lie. After Epstein's prison release, emails released by the US Justice Department showed that the former Duchess of York not only rejoiced in his freedom, but also took her teenage daughters to meet with him for lunch. They also stayed in touch as Ferguson repeatedly sought financial assistance and business advice from the late financier.
