Where Is Prince Harry Staying After Palace Pulls Royal Accommodation Offer For His UK Trip?
Prince Harry's UK accommodation plans have reportedly changed—and one familiar place could now be back in the picture.
Prince Harry’s homecoming to the UK was supposed to be grand, but instead it was met with several setbacks. After getting an official invitation from King Charles to stay at one of the royal residences during his visit, the rug was pulled right out from under his feet. Buckingham Palace revealed that it could no longer provide Harry with a place to stay because he missed the deadline.
The purpose of the Duke’s visit is to mark the one-year-to-go countdown until the 2027 Invictus Games to be held in Birmingham. But after the offer to stay at the palace was rescinded, he was forced to stay elsewhere. Although it has not been confirmed, Harry is expected to stay at a hotel in a secret location while he is in London. It is also possible that he could be staying outside the city and making the trip in for his public appearances.
If Harry does end up staying outside London, it would not be entirely unfamiliar territory. He and Meghan Markle briefly lived in Oxfordshire before moving into their royal residences. Explaining his time there, he wrote in Spare, “We loved it out there. The air fresh, the verdant grounds – plus, no paps. Best of all, we’d be able to call upon the talents of my father’s longtime butler, Kevin. He knew the Oxfordshire house, and he’d know how to turn it quickly into a home. A much-needed change of scenery, a much-needed ally in our corner.”
Another possible option could be one of the Soho House locations in London. The members-only club holds special meaning for the Sussexes as it is widely believed to be where the couple first met. With properties in both Shoreditch and Soho, it could offer the privacy Harry is looking for. Whatever he chooses, though, the details are expected to stay tightly under wraps due to his ongoing security concerns and the threats he has allegedly received.
Initially, Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet, were also expected to accompany Harry on the trip. However, after the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) confirmed that his family would not receive full-time security during the visit, he reportedly had a change of plans.
According to the BBC, Markle and the children are no longer expected to travel to London as originally intended after it was confirmed they would not be given taxpayer-funded police protection. However, there is still a chance they could join Harry later in the week when his five-day visit shifts to Birmingham for the Invictus Games events.
