Prince Harry Finally Confirms His UK Trip Plans — But With One Big Catch
It seems that Prince Harry will be a lone traveller to London when he arrives in the city later this month.
The drama has just reached its plot twist. After weeks of push and pull, it is finally being reported that Prince Harry will not be joined by Meghan Markle and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on his London trip. Although it was originally in the works, the security issue has played spoilsport for the family, as the Duke of Sussex will not be receiving state-funded protection in the UK.
Harry will be on a five-day work trip to the UK to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The prince has been fighting to receive automatic police protection, without which he had mentioned it was “impossible” for him to bring his wife and kids to his home country. Although his family may not be with him in London, it is expected they will join him later in the week when the itinerary moves to the Midlands.
It was reported last month that the couple had accepted to stay at a royal residence. It certainly looks like a positive sign towards the much-speculated royal reunion with King Charles, who reportedly wants to meet his grandchildren. The monarch hasn’t seen Archie and Lilibet since 2022. Their visit four years ago also marked the final time the duo saw their great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth, who passed away later that year.
It is believed that Harry will bring his kids to visit the grave of his mother, Princess Diana, at Althorp this month. While Archie was born in the UK, and Lilibet has visited the country before, it is unlikely that the siblings have been to see their granny. It will certainly be a very emotional day for the Duke, who has often spoken about his mother’s continued influence on his life.
Apart from personal moments and Invictus Games events, Harry will reportedly participate in events for WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers, two non-profit organizations that he champions. He certainly has a hectic schedule to look forward to.
But he is not the only royal with a packed July. Harry’s older brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, are also reportedly quite busy when the Sussex party arrives in the UK. While the rift between the two couples had already made it unlikely for them to meet and reconcile, logistical issues may also now pose a barrier.
