Meghan Markle decided to skip the 78th Emmys, despite 'With Love, Meghan' being nominated for Outstanding Lifestyle Series.
In July, Meghan Markle celebrated her first-ever Emmy nomination. The Duchess sounded ecstatic as she wrote, "A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on With Love, Meghan on @netflix," in the caption of her Instagram post, shared along with a beautiful moment captured from the lifestyle series. "We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!" she added. The Sussexes, Archewell Productions, and Sony Pictures Television were all listed as producers when the series secured the honor. However, the Duchess, who returned to the UK along with her family last month, missed out on the star-studded 78th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
Markle skipped the Primetime Emmy Awards, dedicated to excellence in the television industry, which were held at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles, California, on 14th September. The real reason behind her absence is that her Netflix series is actually nominated for a Daytime Emmy, set for Friday, October 30. With Love, Meghan is competing against Different Breed, George to the Rescue, The Motherhood, and The Wizard of Paws. According to Town and Country Magazine, it has not yet been confirmed if the Duchess will attend next month's ceremony.
The Sussexes effectively reversed "Megxit" last month, settling in the UK for an extended period with Archie and Lilibet after reports confirmed the children enrolled in a British school. "On the heels of a wonderful trip with family and friends this summer, Harry and Meghan have decided to spend an extended period in the U.K. this autumn," a Sussex spokesperson stated to The New York Times. "They are excited to have their children spend more time in the country that’s such an important part of their family’s story."
Steady rumors about her acting career preceded Markle's return to the UK, with reports suggesting that the former Suits actress had landed a role in Guy Ritchie's hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen. However, lead actor Theo James dismissed the casting rumors as "a lot of hot air." He stressed that the primary focus remains on gaining viewership for season two, noting that while season three is in the works, the specifics are still undecided. Town & Country reported that the show aims to expand its universe into different countries in future seasons. Yet, despite being greenlit for a third season, fresh figures indicate that second-season ratings dropped considerably after speculation rose that Markle might join the cast.
Meanwhile, in a first-ever family post after her UK return, the Duchess shared a glimpse of spending quality time with Prince Harry and her children in the countryside on Instagram. The post featured their settled-in lifestyle with cozy weather gear, splashing in mud puddles, soaking in the ambience in front of a lit fireplace, and the Sussex children enjoying the sunny farm life, watching goats, and fishing.
