The controversy surrounding Meghan Markle’s father keeps getting more and more troubling by the day. Thomas Markle Sr., who has been estranged from his daughter for a few years now, was accused of child sexual abuse after his son, Thomas Markle Jr., found material in his Philippines residence, where the older man had stayed for over a year until a few months ago. Recently, the court issued warrants to search all the electronic equipment that had been submitted to the authorities regarding the matter.

In another development in the case, The Daily Mail has now reported Thomas Markle Sr. to the FBI after discovering a stash of suspected child sexual abuse material in an abandoned storage unit he had rented in Rosarito, Mexico, during his stay. From books about pedophilia to magazines showing children being sexually abused, and several photographs of naked Asian females, who are suspected of being minors, were part of the collection found in the storage.
In a report published by The Daily Mail, they said that their reporter, who had traveled to Mexico to investigate the allegations surrounding Markle, gained access to the 5 ft by 10 ft storage unit in Rosarito Beach after the Duchess's father had defaulted on his storage lease payments over the past two years. Along with the disturbing materials, they also found family mementos and photographs, as well as letters he had stored there.

The 82-year-old is currently in a Florida rehabilitation facility, where he is learning to walk again following the amputation of his left leg in the Philippines 11 months ago. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing on his part but has admitted that he paid for sex when he was single. Denying the accusations brought forth by his son, he described them as "the worst thing anyone could accuse me of."
Since her initial statement expressed that she was “deeply distressed” by the news, the Duchess has refrained from further public comment. In that statement, she noted that the Metropolitan Police informed her in 2019 of a letter containing "disturbing allegations" about her father and that she had been assured by authorities at the time that the matter was "being investigated." Unfortunately, nothing came of it until very recently.

Markle Sr. lived in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, which is roughly 10 kilometers from the U.S. border, until January 2025, when he relocated to Cebu, Philippines, to live with his son. His possessions in Cebu are already being investigated by the authorities there. Now, with his Mexico storage unit and its contents reported to the FBI, if charged and convicted of the crimes he is accused of, Thomas Markle Sr. faces 10 to 12 years in prison.
