Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., has been accused of child s*xual abuse, triggering an ongoing investigation by the police. Before the allegations emerged, the accused had been living in the Philippines for more than a year prior to his return to the USA, and in a recent development, the authorities have been granted permission to examine his electronic devices as part of the investigation.

The investigation has taken a new turn after a court in the Philippines reportedly authorized police to examine material linked to Markle Sr. According to media reports, the warrant allows officers to inspect digital devices and hard drives that could contain the alleged images.
Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., discovered the items at their father’s home in Cebu before handing them over to police last week. The four boxes reportedly contained computers, mobile phones, hard drives, and old videotapes. However, officers needed court authorization before examining the contents as part of the probe.
Amid the ongoing investigation, Markle Sr. has maintained his innocence and rejected the claims against him. Speaking while receiving treatment at a rehabilitation center in Florida, he said the accusations were deeply upsetting, adding, “I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of.” He also dismissed his son’s allegations as “sick lies.”

Furthermore, his granddaughter, Noelle Rasmussen, has also spoken out about her childhood, suggesting she now has a better understanding of why her grandfather was rarely present while she was growing up. Sharing her thoughts just five days after the allegations emerged, Markle’s niece said, “Maybe it was a vibe that I subconsciously got … something’s not right about a person, and you don’t actively register it. But your body tells you when something’s off.”
Roslyn Loveless, Thomas Sr.’s first wife reportedly raised the issue with the Metropolitan Police in 2019. Before her death in 2024, Loveless had claimed that Markle Sr. spoke about travelling to the Philippines and Thailand “because 12-year-olds are legal there.”

The Duchess was also informed of the allegations and subsequently reduced contact with her father. She said in a statement, “I am deeply distressed at the news... In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me.”
