Meghan Markle Breaks Silence on ‘Disturbing Allegations’ of Child Abuse Against Her Father
EXCLUSIVE: A source familiar with the situation told The Royal Observer of a 'sense of relief’ within Meghan's inner circle as allegations against her father finally come to light, following years of frustration over how their relationship has been portrayed.
Meghan Markle has been left "deeply distressed" by the allegations that have been made against her father.
The Duchess of Sussex stated that a letter was passed to her and the Metropolitan Police in 2018, which detailed 'troubling and disturbing allegations' about her dad, Thomas Markle, 82. According to her note, she was given assurances that these were being investigated by relevant authorities.
In the statement, the Duchess said: “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed. In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me. It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father, and I was given assurances that these were being investigated."

She continued: "I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them. I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families."
Adding: "Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
However, a source familiar with the situation exclusively told the Royal Observer that there is a sense of ‘relief’ within Meghan’s circle that the allegations have finally come to light, following years of frustration over how her relationship with her father has been portrayed.
The source suggested that legal and police-related considerations had previously limited what could be said publicly.

This comes after The Sun reported that images of child sexual abuse were found at Thomas Markle's former home in the Philippines that allegedly belonged to the former lighting technician.
According to the publication, “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sex abuse images were found and reported to detectives in the Philippines by his son (and Meghan's half-brother) Thomas Markle Jnr, 60, who was going through boxes of his father's belongings.
This was after he discovered the material in four large boxes in his father's abode when searching for a phone for his Filipino girlfriend’s father in the city of Cebu.
According to the outlet, the authorities are seemingly "preparing to seize the evidence". After submitting sworn testimony to the Philippines police, Markle Jnr told the UK tabloid publication: "When I found this material I was horrified, and I had no option but to report my dad. I have supported, cared for him and helped him for years — but that stops now."

He added: "I won’t speak to my father ever again unless I’m called to give evidence against him."
According to the tabloid, he apparently told friends of his disgust when he discovered a 15-minute video that flashed up on a deserted LG mobile device. According to the tabloid, Thomas Jr also alleged that one of the images on the phone was a photo taken of a screen from a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop that was placed in a room he recognised from his father's residence in Rosarito, Mexico.
The Royal Observer has contacted the Metropolitan Police for comment.
