The ex-couple have stayed in touch amid the ongoing investigation into their alleged ties with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Ferguson recently made a quiet return to the UK after spending an extended period in a chalet in Austria. Meanwhile, Mountbatten-Windsor has been living a secluded life at the Marsh Farm after being evicted from Royal Lodge.
"Sarah and Andrew speak regularly and have always had and continue to have unity as co-parents and co-grandparents," the former Duchess of York's spokesperson told HELLO! exclusively. The ex-couple became grandparents for the fifth time with the birth of their granddaughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, in Lisbon, Portugal, on August 3. This marks their third granddaughter, born to Princess Eugenie. They also dote on their other grandchildren, Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's sons, August and Ernest, and Princess Beatrice's daughters, Sienna and Athena. Beatrice is also a stepmother to her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's son, Christopher Woolf.
Since losing his titles and leaving Royal Lodge last year, the former Duke and Duchess of York have maintained a low profile. Recently, Ferguson attended a memorial service for her ex-boyfriend, Paddy McNally, with her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and their husbands. This appearance marked her first time in the UK since a discreet homecoming. She is reportedly residing in the Home Counties as she readjusts to life in England, spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She has also stayed in touch with her ex-husband, Andrew, though it is unclear whether they have met.
A royal commentator revealed that Eugenie and Beatrice have been visiting their mother. "Friends tell me they have both been to see her at her new house in the past couple of weeks. I don't think they want to be seen with her in public at the moment, and she probably realizes it's not a good idea either, but behind the scenes they are talking and trying to be supportive," Phil Dampier said.
However, he noted that the York sisters are embarrassed and reevaluating their lives and contacts to avoid scandal, suggesting the relationship is less close than in the past. They have grown apart, leading to separate lives and families. "I think the days of them being the tripod and inseparable have been fragmented," he concluded.
