Royal Expert Claims Charles Has More Trouble With William Than He Ever Did With Harry
While the world carefully watches for a reconciliation between the Royal Family and Prince Harry, a much more consequential fracture has formed within Palace walls. According to a bombshell report by royal journalist Rob Shuter, at present, the most fragile relationship in the monarchy isn’t that of King Charles and the Duke of Sussex – it is between the King and his heir, Prince William.
In his Naughty But Nice substack, he quoted insiders who have told him that the monarch and the Prince of Wales are currently not on speaking terms, describing the atmosphere as icy at best and explosive at worst. Though the father and son duo have weathered storms before, sources close to the institution suggest this latest rupture is particularly severe. “It’s very bad at the moment,” one palace source told Shuter, also adding, “There’s real anger on both sides.”
The alleged tensions became impossible to ignore following William’s absence from Charles’ Windsor Castle film premiere. The event was a passion project for the monarch, and a joint appearance would have easily quashed the rumors of a family divide. But by staying away, the heir apparent reportedly sent a message. A source insisted to Shuter that the absence of the Prince of Wales “wasn't a scheduling issue," but rather "a statement."
Perhaps the most jarring revelation from insiders is the claim that Charles finds his eldest son far more difficult to tackle than his youngest. While Harry is often characterized as emotional and reactive, courtiers suggest the Prince of Wales’ approach is far more calculated. “Harry is emotional, reactive, and predictable,” one courtier explained, also observing, “William is controlled, strategic — and stubborn. That’s much harder.” The shift in the power dynamics is also playing a big role in the ongoing tensions.
As the King settles into his reign, William is said to be increasingly focused on his own impending legacy. “William will be king,” an insider noted. “And he knows it. That changes the power dynamic completely.” Ultimately, as per the sources quoted by Shuter, the friction may stem from the very traits they share. “They clash because they’re too similar....Both believe they’re right. Neither backs down easily,” an insider told the royal journalist. Based on the remarks as well as Shuter’s own assessment regarding the current state of affairs, it looks like the path back to harmony will be long.
