Princess Kate Reveals Prince Louis’ Quirky New Hobby — And Honestly, We’re Not Surprised

The Princess of Wales shared that her youngest can’t stop collecting conkers, even sneaking them into bed.

Prince Louis has long been known as the cheekiest member of the Wales family, often stealing the spotlight with his playful expressions and mischievous antics at public events. After Prince William recently opened up about the same, now, Mom Kate Middleton has revealed another insight into her youngest's personality — a quirky little hobby that has taken over the royal household.

Middleton, while hosting a group of Squirrel Scouts alongside US First Lady Melania Trump, offered a glimpse into her seven-year-old’s world. She revealed that Louis has become utterly obsessed with collecting conkers, the shiny seeds of the horse chestnut tree that fall in abundance at this time of year. According to Middleton, the conker craze has taken over the family’s home. “We keep finding conkers in cupboards, in his bed — conkers everywhere!” she laughed, explaining that Louis’ enthusiasm means no corner of the house is safe. She added that he even loads his prized finds into his toy trucks to play with them.

This isn't the first time the Princess of Wales has spoken about their children’s love for the outdoors. She has revealed how her happiest moments are spent outside with her family, ‘all filthy dirty,’ as she once put it. Louis’ latest obsession, hence, fits right in with the family’s tradition of embracing muddy knees and messy hands.

The Wales children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis, may be impeccably turned out when they appear in public, but their parents make sure their lives at home are far from stiff or formal. During a recent engagement at the National Federation of Women’s Institutes in Sunningdale, William gave a more candid view of what things are really like behind closed doors. He explained that George, now twelve and increasingly in the public eye as second in line to the throne, is far less serious at home than his public image suggests. “When George is behind closed doors, it’s a completely different ball game,” William admitted. He added that George has simply 'learned how to behave' in front of cameras, unlike his younger brother. “There are five years between them,” he noted, hinting at Louis’s mischievous nature.

That mischievous energy was on display when William was asked if Louis was 'a bit of a handful.' With a smile, the Prince replied, “He’s a character, but he’s a very good boy.” He described Louis as endlessly playful, often chasing his sister Charlotte around in circles, and full of youthful spirit. Similarly, at another engagement, William shared a key detail about the young Prince’s personality. Joining in a musical activity, he joked, “If my youngest were here, he’d have a go. He’s practicing at the moment.” Although he didn’t clarify which instrument Louis was working on, it’s been reported that he has a particular fondness for the drums.
