Prince William is a dedicated father to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, always going above and beyond to give them a normal and joyful childhood. Protective yet proud, the Prince of Wales consistently speaks highly of his children, as seen during his recent engagement on September 9. At the youth organization Spiral Skills, he opened up about his 'biggest weakness' — being unable to read music — and shared why he encourages his children to embrace music.

During his solo visit, the Prince of Wales was impressed with the young musicians brilliantly playing musical instruments in a workshop. Speaking about his own experience with music, he said, "You've all got amazing rhythm, and it sounds fantastic. I wish I had started when I was your age. I couldn't read music, so that was my biggest weakness." He added, "I started off playing piano, trumpet, and the drums, and then realized I had to memorize every tune, and it just fell away. I make sure my children learn music because I love music and it's crucial, really important."

Chatting with the youth, William playfully declined Django Brooke’s invitation to play the drums, revealing that his youngest was better suited for the job. He said, "I'm definitely not a drummer…If my youngest were here, he'd have a go, because he's practicing at the moment, but I'd love to hear you do it. But thank you for asking." Back in 2024, the Prince poked fun at Louis’s noisy hobby, telling bassist Ronnie Wood and Mark Knopfler at the Tusk Awards, "My youngest is learning the drums. That’s why I spend my entire life with my fingers in my ears."

It's not just Louis who has a penchant for music, as Kate Middleton revealed that George and Charlotte are also taking after their father’s love for music. While touring a practice for a concert timed for the late Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, she shared that George was taking electric guitar lessons while Charlotte was practicing the piano. Middleton, on her part, likes playing the keyboard. A royal source told PEOPLE that she had learnt piano as a child and took great comfort in playing music during the COVID-19 pandemic. They explained, "Music was very important to the [then] Duchess during the lockdowns. She also recognizes the powerful way in which music brings people together — especially during difficult times."

As for William’s visit to Spiral Skills, the Prince visited the organization in Lambeth as part of his Homewards initiative. He showed interest in meeting with youths aged 14-25, learning about their training, support services, and employment workshops. He also explored their new prevention hub and joined a session with Young Creators UK, highlighting his commitment to helping youth in his Homewards pilot area. A cause close to his heart, William met with the 'Changemarkers' — young people who have firsthand faced homelessness and now work to support others in their community through outreach.
