Princess Anne Challenges Meghan Markle’s Claims With Her Latest Decisions
Harriet Sperling and daughter, Georgina Sperling, were present at St. George's Cathedral on Sunday.
In several media interviews, the Duchess of Sussex has repeatedly spoken about feeling unwelcome within the British Royal Family following her grand wedding to Prince Harry. Highlighting serious concerns about racial bias and other issues, Meghan Markle has also claimed she struggled with deteriorating mental health and felt unheard when she sought help. However, these claims were recently challenged when King Charles, Princess Anne, and other senior royals welcomed two new family members into the royal fold during the traditional Easter gathering.
On Sunday, April 5th, the Princess Royal's new would-be daughter-in-law, Harriet Sperling, and her daughter, Georgina Sperling, made a notable appearance at St. George's Cathedral, Windsor Castle, to be a part of the Easter ceremony. Georgina entered the chapel with Isla Phillips and Savannah Phillips, while her mother and Peter Phillips followed behind, as reported by HELLO Magazine. Peter is set to marry the NHS nurse very soon. The new family members were also seen smiling and talking to the monarch, Anne, and other Royals.
Initially, Georgina's body language seemed to be a little anxious. Speaking of this, body language expert Inbaal Honigman said, "As she stands with the others, she expresses some involuntary signs of tension. Her raised shoulders signify caution, and the lightly clenched fists show that she's feeling a little anxious, as if ready to defend herself." She then added to her initial deduction, stating, "Tucking her hair behind her ear, and generally touching her face, all indicate that she wants to be liked. Those are self-soothing gestures, so she doesn't want to be nervous."
However, royal family members, mainly Anne, helped Georgina calm down with a warm welcome. Inbaal even addressed this and said, "Their casual, friendly smiles and moves show them to be feeling at ease, and wanting Georgina herself to feel at ease. They all communicate with her gently and warmly, keen to welcome her to the fold. Especially when Princess Anne greets the family, the kindness is evident. The Princess makes a point of speaking to the young lady, facing her directly and making eye contact, not looking down her nose at Georgina."
The body language expert then added, "In fact, Anne herself tries to make a good impression, her fingers touching her face and hair, the Princess is seen using grooming gestures which show a desire to be welcomed by the newcomer." Georgina's mother and Princess Anne's son will marry on June 6 at All Saints Church in Kemble, Cirencester. The couple first met at a sports event where their daughters participated and have been in a relationship since 2024. Meanwhile, royal editor Emily Nash previously spoke of the couple’s relationship with the rest of the family, saying, “Peter is close to the King and to his cousins, and Harriet seems to have been warmly welcomed into the fold.”
