Ex-Butler Reveals Why Peter Philips' Wedding Is Exactly What the Royal Family Needs Now

As a former royal butler puts it, this low-key wedding could be the positive reset the Royal Family desperately needs right now

Royal Weddings are always events that receive global coverage, but with the drama in the royal family in the past few years, people will be closely watching all those who will turn up for the latest union. After he split from Autumn Kelly, Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, is set to get married to Harriet Sperling. A representative for the couple confirmed they will be tying the knot on June 6, 2026. Grant Harrold, the former royal butler, has also chipped in to suggest that even though it will be a small affair, the upcoming wedding could be a well-timed affair for the family, since the Royal Family is in a bit of a fix after recent scandals.

Harrold explained that Peter and Harriet’s wedding will not be as grand, but it is still something to look out for. He said, “While still a much-loved member of the Royal Family, Peter isn’t a senior member and is low down the line of succession, so it won’t be anything like what we saw for Harry or Eugenie. However, it’s still a royal wedding, and we’ll still have the family out together—so there will be a lot of interest and media attention.”

The wedding is set to take place at All Saints Church, Kemble, and the village has a population of less than 1000 people. So the wedding is going to be less over-the-top and more traditional. Harrold added, “Royal events in that area are normally quite lowkey, unlike the massive events we’ve seen at Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle.” He further said, “I imagine we’ll see photos of them arriving and leaving the event, and there will be official pictures released. I hope they share one big family photo; that would be lovely to see.”

However, the full guest list is still a mystery, but it is a given that his parents, the Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, will be there, along with his sister and brother-in-law, Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall. Peter’s daughters, Savannah and Isla, whom he shares with his ex-wife Autumn Phillips, are also expected to be part of the day. They reportedly have a close bond with Harriet already, so their presence will naturally be important.

The Royal Family has been in the eye of a storm ever since disgraced ex-Prince Andrew was arrested on February 19, 2026. His connection to Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced and was questioned by the authorities regarding suspicions of misconduct in public office. The situation reportedly involves claims that he may have shared confidential trade details and sensitive government information with the convicted felon during his time as a UK trade envoy.

Harrold said that the wedding could ease the tensions during this stressful time. He added, “The royals will be wanting some good news because there's been so much negativity recently; they need something positive.” He emphasized that it is something the family will want people to focus on for the right reasons and shift attention to something positive.
