Prince William Sends a Clear Message With Unexpected Gesture Toward Beatrice at Wedding

Prince William's warm greeting to Beatrice at a recent royal wedding has sparked fresh debate about her place within the Royal Family.

Recent speculation surrounding Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie was finally put to rest after the sisters showed up for the recent royal wedding. Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling finally tied the knot on Saturday and were joined by many members of the royal family, including the York sisters, who were believed to be sidelined by the rest. But Prince William, with his actions, has proven the rumors false.

William seemed more than happy to see Beatrice as he greeted his cousin with a warm kiss on the cheek. It was the kind of relaxed family moment that royal watchers rarely get to see. There was no awkwardness, no noticeable distance, and certainly nothing to suggest the York sisters were being frozen out. If anything, the interaction appeared to put the recent rumors about the York sisters being sidelined firmly to rest.

The sisters' place within the royal family came under fresh scrutiny after a recent audit by the National Audit Office report shed new light on their living arrangements. The audit revealed that Beatrice and Eugenie spent nearly two decades living rent-free in apartments at Kensington Palace and St. James's Palace. Instead, the substantial housing costs were quietly covered by King Charles’s Privy Purse—his private income.

However, the debate did not stop there. While Buckingham Palace maintained that the rents were being paid from Charles' private income, some critics questioned whether it was really that simple. He receives income from the Duchy of Lancaster, a vast estate that passes from monarch to monarch. Moreover, for the homes located within occupied royal palaces, their upkeep and maintenance are already covered as part of the wider royal estate. That makes the arrangement very different from an ordinary homeowner simply letting a relative stay in a spare property rent-free.

So, why is everyone talking about William's greeting? The Daily Beast suggests it’s all about the royal family's changing power dynamics. When King Charles first fell ill, all eyes turned to William as the immediate future of the firm. But with the King's treatment going well and his schedule full of public engagements, Charles isn't stepping back anytime soon. That steady recovery has quietly shifted the palace's balance of influence back to the monarch.

According to the publication, the kiss wasn’t necessarily a sign of a sudden, deep bond between William and Beatrice. Rather, it was a nod of approval for his father’s way of running things. With Charles still firmly at the helm, the warm greeting sent a clear message of family unity on a day when all eyes were on the royals.
