Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice Reunite for Surprise Appearance at Peter Phillips’ Wedding
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice have kept an unusually low profile due to the controversies surrounding their father.
Over the last few months, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, who were once regular faces at almost all royal gatherings, have kept an unusually low profile as controversies surrounding their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, once again cast a shadow over the York family. However, the royal sisters have now stepped back into the spotlight for a rare family appearance. On Saturday, June 6, they attended the wedding ceremony of their eldest cousin, Peter Phillips, to Harriet Sperling at All Saints Church in the Cotswolds.
Despite all the tensions and shifting family relationships, Beatrice and Eugenie’s appearance highlighted the strong bond shared by the late Queen Elizabeth II’s grandchildren. Joining the celebration alongside their husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank, the sisters appeared relaxed and in high spirits. As reported by HELLO Magazine, much of the attention naturally turned to Eugenie, who is currently expecting her third child. She shared the happy news a few weeks ago with an adorable photo of her sons, August and Ernest, proudly holding a baby scan.
Eugenie looked elegant as she chose to wear a formal navy-blue maternity outfit and completed the look with an overcoat for the special family celebration. On the other hand, Beatrice, who has long been admired for her timeless fashion choices, looked adorable in a stylish floral dress by Emilia Wickstead. It's worth noting that the sisters were last seen with the wider royal family for the Christmas Day church service, which took place at Sandringham last year. They were absent from both the Easter celebrations and the late Queen’s centenary.
Meanwhile, it had previously been reported that Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, were not invited to the intimate wedding ceremony. The decision was reportedly made to avoid any unnecessary distractions and ensure the occasion remained special and joyful for the couple and their loved ones. A source close to Phillips and Sperling stated, "Peter and Harriet's wedding is an intimate occasion with their close friends and immediate family around them in the Cotswolds. It’s an area where they grew up and is very special to them both.”
The person added, "When and whether Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson had been invited, it was probably not deemed appropriate to invite them. It’s Peter and Harriet’s special day, and clearly their attendance would cause a distraction to the whole day." Additionally, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were also said to be excluded from the guest list. The source spoke of this and said, "Peter and Harry haven’t spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn’t been invited." While Andrew and Ferguson’s absence may not come as a surprise amid ongoing controversy, Harry’s absence raised eyebrows, given his once close bond with his cousin.
