Prince William and Princess Kate Share Rare Family Photo — and It's Straight Out of Meghan’s Playbook
Princess Kate and Prince William recently posted a family picture from the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and it is uncannily similar to those of Meghan Markle's.
Princess Kate and Prince William recently attended the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, diligently in tow. The family of five was spotted laughing, joking, and watching the matches excitedly.
However, it was not the giggles or the relaxed banter that made it to their official Instagram. Instead, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photo of the five royals walking into the arena from behind, a composition strikingly similar to the family snapshots Meghan Markle has often posted on her own social media.
Kensington Palace’s latest picture of the Wales family was uncannily similar to Markle’s Mother’s Day dump this year when the Sussexes had taken a trip to Disneyland. Markle had posted a picture taken from behind of her and Prince Harry walking on the premises holding their children’s hands. And it was not the first time that the Duchess of Sussex had posted a photo like this. In fact, for better or worse, she is known for it as she attempts to hide the faces of her two kids, Archie and Lilibet. But the same cannot be said for the Prince and Princess of Wales. George, Charlotte, and Louis have often appeared on their parents’ Instagram page. In fact, Kate and William have a tradition of releasing official birthday portraits and videos of their children.
On its own, the rear-view shot is nothing extraordinary. Highly unremarkable. And Kate and William’s use of it wouldn’t have received another glance, if not for Markle. The specific type of shot has become the headlining aspect of her family pictures over the past year. However, again that would have been overlooked if the 2020 rupture of the Fab Four had never happened and the resulting family drama had never occurred. Sadly, that is not the case. In a world where the words ‘tribute’ and ‘copy’ have become easily interchangeable, Kate and William’s choice for their Commonwealth Games’ family picture does seem inspired by their estranged sister-in-law.
Last week, the Prince and Princess of Wales posted a “summer rewind” of their special moments. The seasonal picture carousel idea has already been adopted by Markle, who had posted her own European summer vacation dump only four days earlier. The summer recap debate certainly emboldened the rear-view shots argument, as the royal feud refuses to thaw.
Although Markle and Harry met with King Charles when they were in the UK last month, Kate and William kept their distance, busying themselves with work commitments instead. The time when the quartet was the monarchy’s strongest force, now a distant memory.
