Prince Harry Makes a Cheeky Joke at Invictus Outing — and It's One We've Heard Before From William
His signature wit on display, the 41-year-old further joked about his thinning hair, much like William did recently.
Prince Harry’s UK visit comes with a string of events to promote the Invictus Games. As he kicked off the one-year countdown to the Games, he delivered a heartfelt speech. On Friday, July 10, he stopped by Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre (NEC), which will serve as the main hub for the 2027 Invictus Games. The tournament will be held in the U.K. for the first time since its debut in 2014.
Addressing the crowd of athletes and volunteers, Harry said it was incredibly special to see the Invictus Games return to the U.K. 13 years after they first launched in London. He added that it was not only where the movement began but also the country that has always valued service, resilience, and standing together in difficult times.
His signature wit on display, the 41-year-old further joked, “What has struck me walking around the arena today is just how many faces I recognize from those different groups that were part of that original journey back in 2014; some of us have lost our hair.” This is not the first time the Duke of Sussex has poked fun at his thinning hair. During a 2022 Dutch TV appearance tied to the Invictus Games, he quipped to athlete Bart van der Burg that he was "already doomed" when it came to going bald.
Harry's comment came not long after Prince William made a similar quip during a recent visit to a housing project. While discussing the facilities that would be provided, the conversation turned to hairdryers, prompting William to jokingly say, "Some of us don't need hairdryers!" The estranged brothers seemingly have more in common than they would admit: cracking jokes at their own expense to put others at ease.
After his speech, Harry also joined in on the action by taking part in wheelchair rugby and pickleball. Pickleball has been added to this year's Invictus Games for the first time, along with laser run, a sport that blends cross-country running with precision laser pistol shooting. Meanwhile, Markle joined Harry on the trip after much speculation, with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. They had a private reunion with King Charles at Highgrove House, where the monarch was able to spend time with his grandchildren away from the public eye.
