Prince William proved once again why his quick wit is one of his most relatable qualities during his latest public appearance.

In his ongoing quest to raise awareness of homelessness, Prince William marked the third anniversary of the Homewards initiative on June 30, with an event at Tate Modern in London. He delivered a speech on the programme's progress towards making homelessness "rare, brief, and unrepeated," addressing it as a systemic failure that requires collaborative, long-term solutions. During the outing, he learned about the organization's efforts to secure stable housing and employment for individuals, as well as its proactive support in identifying risks before crises arise. But true to his signature style, the Prince of Wales had everyone in splits with his dry British humor.

While discussing some facilities provided, the conversation veered towards hairdryers, and the Prince of Wales had a very cheeky answer. "Kids' bedroom?" he inquired. "All the kids will get a washing machine and a dryer," the members replied. "That's fantastic," William continued. "Yeah, we'll put a washing machine and dryer. Will we do these like an oven so you get like-Yeah, microwave? Yeah. All right. Fridge? Yes." They went back and forth for a while. "Hairdryers?" the Prince inquired. "Hairdryers, yeah," the members affirmed. "Some of us don't need hairdryers!" William playfully said. His remark filled the room with instant laughter. Watch the video here.

This is not the first time Prince William has shared bald jokes. In fact, he had humorously remarked about the situation after the birth of his eldest son, Prince George: "He's got way more (hair) than me, thank God,'' he told the media at the time.

Prince William's sense of humor regarding his balding was also highlighted in the memoir titled The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service by former royal butler Grant Harrold. He noted that during a conversation at Highgrove, Kate teased William about aging and hair loss. Harrold recalled that the future king took the comment in stride, showing good sportsmanship. "I said that surely the worst thing about aging was losing your hair and going bald,” Harrold wrote. “Kate started sniggering, and William gave me a look and said, ‘Thanks for that.’ It hadn’t occurred to me that, of course, by then he was starting to lose his hair.”

Apart from the jokes, the Prince of Wales gave an inspiring message during his visit. Homewards is demonstrating that preventing homelessness is achievable, he highlighted in his speech on early detection today. He also stated that three years ago they aimed to determine whether homelessness could be prevented, and they are now seeing positive signs of progress. William, influenced by his late mother, Princess Diana, has been aware of homelessness from a young age. During his visits to shelters and charities, he witnessed the essential work done to support those in need. He emphasized that the causes of homelessness are varied, often related to a lack of timely support. Expressing that no child should experience homelessness, he urged supporters to intensify their efforts, collaborate, and challenge existing norms to demonstrate what can be achieved collectively.
