Prince Harry and King Charles Trying to Arrange a Private Meeting in New York City: Insider
Buckingham Palace confirmed the King and Queen’s official state visit to the US later this month.
Over the past few years, there have been consistent rumors of a possible reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles III, often sparked by their short meetings or hopeful remarks from royal experts, sources close to them, and palace insiders. Despite the optimism, most of these rumors have often resulted in setbacks. However, fresh hopes of a reunion are once again on the horizon with the Duke of Sussex reportedly planning a reunion with his dad, this time in New York City. It has also been revealed that the meetup could include Charles’ grandchildren as well.
Robert James Shuter, a well-known journalist, talk show host, and author, revealed the news of the potential reconciliation in his Naughty But Nice Substack, where he wrote, “Prince Harry and King Charles are trying to arrange a private meeting in New York City while the King is in the U.S. later this month.” He also mentioned the possibility of Harry bringing his children along, saying, “This time, it could include the next generation.” According to Shuter, an insider had stated, “He [Harry] wants to bring the children. This isn’t just about him — it’s about reconnecting as a family. They’re working on the logistics now. It would be completely private and off the official schedule.”
However, a few other insiders have denied any such claims, suggesting that a meeting between the father and son duo is unlikely during the upcoming state visit. The main reason for it is that the extremely busy and carefully structured schedule leaves little room for any kind of personal engagements. As reported by People Magazine, a source said, "When you’re talking about a state visit, every minute is accounted for — especially when it’s the King traveling as the invited guest of a head of state. Harry knows how things are and wouldn’t ask for that either under these circumstances.”
The last time Charles and Harry met was in London in September 2025, marking their first face-to-face interaction in 19 months. Back then, they spent about an hour together over a private tea at Clarence House. Since then, they have never seen each other, but there's another hope of a reunion when Harry returns to the U.K. this summer for the very special Invictus Games. He is expected to return to Britain to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace confirmed the King and Queen’s official state visit to the US, stating, “On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America. Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the UK and the US, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.” They added, “The King will continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory.”
