Expert Says One Senior Royal Is 'Critical' in Shaping the Monarchy's Future: 'She's the Glue'
Public support for the monarchy has taken a major hit, but royal expert Robert Jobson believes one member could help it regain its footing.
The royal family's reputation has taken a significant hit following the exposure of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's controversial actions and arrest. Public support for the monarchy has dwindled, with King Charles attempting to steady the ship in stable waters. Amid the chaos, royal expert Robert Jobson believes one family member could help restore the public's good graces. According to him, Kate Middleton's strong decision-making and reassuring presence may help guide the Crown through one of its most challenging periods.
Speaking to HELLO!, Jobson suggested that Middleton's strong support for Prince William and leadership skills were crucial in determining the monarchy's future. He said, "She's the glue, really. She has an understanding of the way the world works. This is a woman who has come from the people and actually does understand what people expect." To argue his point, he mentioned her recent Wales and Leicester visits, where she was warmly received by the public. He opined that her quiet power and warm personality have made her a public favorite, which is key to restoring hope in the monarchy.
Along with her favorable public image, Jobson argued that the Princess of Wales was more level-headed and confident than her husband. He added, "By providing William with a stable and loving family life, she [Middleton] offers him a strong support base at home for his increasingly demanding public role. She is on hand to offer a listening ear and sound advice, and she has good instincts, according to those who know her well, about the right decisions to make." This very quality, as Jobson puts it, gives a 'solid foundation' to their relationship, which is why William increasingly relies on her.
Similarly, royal author Russell Myers echoed that the Waleses' desire for their three children to thrive in a stable environment is central to their approach: get family life right, and the rest will follow. He stressed, "To have a couple who have stability at the centre of what they do is important. When everything is burning around you, you need the central figures to remain solid – and that's what the Waleses do." As for the Princess of Wales, Myers opined that she is 'critical' to the running of the monarchy, and "does understand the vision of the future."
Meanwhile, Jobson added that Middleton's strong focus on her family came from her parents, who are also very close to William. He continued, "She's [Middleton] seen her mum and dad supporting one another, which is what she's doing with William…William has been part of their family since he was 21, and that's been special to him. That sense that they're going to be there for you, that's how she was raised." All in all, the Princess of Wales is poised to help restore the royal family's footing, with her warm, approachable nature overshadowing lingering memories of past scandals.
