Meghan Markle's New As Ever Drop Has an Unexpected Royal Connection — and It Involves Kate Middleton

There are more differences than commonalities between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, but the former's latest launch can become a bonding topic.

There are not many things that Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton agree upon, but the Duchess of Sussex’s recent As Ever launch might just create a rare bit of common ground between the two women, especially with Markle reportedly returning to the UK in July. The Princess of Wales is known to favor starting her mornings with a cup of matcha, and her estranged sister-in-law recently tapped into that exact craze with her lifestyle brand. Collaborating with the wellness drinks brand, Clevr Blends, run by her friend Hannah Mendoza, the Duchess released a special Strawberry Matcha Set ― and given her love for the drink, it might just be Kate-approved.

The new hamper includes an instant Matcha super latte from Clevr Blends, a jar of strawberry spread, and flower sprinkles from As Ever. Priced at $56, the set has already been listed as sold out on the brand’s website. Markle recently posted a picture of herself and Mendoza catching up on her Instagram stories, adding a warm note for her friend-turned-business partner. “I’ve proudly supported Hannah and Clevr Blends for so many years now. Thrilled about this collaboration with one of my favourite gals and two of my favourite brands,” she wrote. Mendoza reciprocated the love by reposting the story, adding, “The sweetest. Always so proud to say that Clevr is fueled by women raising each other up. MUCH LOVE.”

As Ever had promoted their recent launch by calling it the “sweetest collab” and had claimed it was everything one would “need for juicy, jammy, whimsy-filled summer matcha lattes”. In a perfect world, Middleton might have been the first person to try the new matcha hamper. Reports had previously mentioned that the beloved royal has a green smoothie every morning that includes power-packed ingredients such as matcha, kale, spirulina, spinach, romaine, and blueberries. She pairs the drink with a bowl of porridge. Her breakfast staples are often considered the secret behind her glowing complexion.

Although, unfortunately, the match set might never reach Forest Lodge in real life, as the divide between the Wales and the Sussexes has only widened in the past few years. Even as reports float in suggesting a royal reconciliation between King Charles, Prince Harry, and Markle, speculation sharply mentions that Prince William and Middleton might not be a part of the reunion. On the other hand, there has been a lot of chatter around Markle’s new launch, with many reports claiming that the release was intended to sell off the excess jars of spread that had apparently gone unsold. An earlier website glitch had revealed that around 650,190 jars still remained in the inventory.

However, a spokesperson for Markle defended her, saying, “The problem with all of these repetitive Alison Boshoff Daily Mail ‘As ever’ doom stories are that they’re like Groundhog Day: the same prediction, the same unnamed sources, the same certainty, and somehow we’re still waiting for the apocalypse they promised in 2024.”
